TITLE:

BUS DRIVER

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Valid Commercial Driver's License with School Bus and Passenger Endorsements 2. Minimum of three years' previous safe driving experience 3. Ability to maintain passenger discipline to ensure their safety and well-being 4. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status REPORTS TO:

Transportation Coordinator

JOB GOAL:

To transport pupils in a safe and efficient manner and perform all activities related to the operation of the school bus.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.

Conducts a pre-trip safety inspection of the bus prior to every trip as well as after every trip and at the end of the day.

2.

Notifies mechanic of any bus malfunctions and/or safety hazards on the repair work order form.

3.

Adheres to established routes, designated bus stops and keeps to assigned time schedule.

4.

Transports only authorized pupils.

5.

In accordance with Board of Education Policy and Regulation 8630.Bus Drivers/Bus Aide Responsibility, visually inspects the school bus at the end of each transportation route to determine that no student has been left on the school bus.

Obeys all traffic laws and observes mandatory school bus safety regulations.

Maintains discipline on the bus and reports violations to the building principal.

Reports all accidents and pupil injuries immediately to the Transportation Coordinator and completes required reports.

Participates in emergency evacuation drills in accordance with board policy and instructs passengers regarding safety regulations and other bus rules.

Performs interior bus cleaning duties daily and reports any vandalism to bus mechanics.

Has respect for assigned vehicles.

12.

Performs any and all tasks not specifically addressed herein as directed by the Transportation Coordinator, Business Administrator or Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Ten (10) month position. Work year and salary to be determined in accordance with the appropriate negotiated agreement.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with state law and provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of non-certified staff.
