Jane Cook “Bead Extravaganza” (Course #JC001) Missouri This 3 hour bead making intensive class is designed to introduce the ancient glassworking technique of canework applied to polymer clay and to inspire creativity to flow from these basic fascinating techniques. Students will be building 3 dimensional designs with polymer clay in which the design seen in the cross-section runs the length of the cane. Some of the techniques will include the Skinner Blend, bull’s eyes, stripes, flowers, spirals, inserts, the Stroppel technique, a fiber-Ikat, woven, and collage. These designs will be made into a “Sample” Necklace for you to enjoy and to refer to. The “mystery” of the ancient glassworkers is revealed, and the door is open for you to take these techniques and use them to make more complex canes and designs to create whatever your heart and mind desires! Artists Unhinged Retreat Weekend – Make-&-Takes at the Women’s Club of Glen Ridge, 219 Ridgewood Avenue, Glen Ridge, NJ 07028 April 15, 2016 (Friday Evening) 6:30PM to 10:00PM What is a Make-&-Take? This is a fun, short interaction between artists and participants…It’s not a class or lecture but a fun creative blitz. During a three-hour period, there will be 10-12 instructors set-up at tables in a large ballroom. Each table will have about 10 chairs or so. At 7:00PM we will start and each participant will go to the table with the instructor of their choice. You have to be the first to fill up the instructors’ chairs; if your choice is already full, you have to find another table. The instructors will teach a mini lesson for 30 minutes that you will complete and take with you (“Make-&-Takes”). This process will repeat every thirty minutes for the 3-hours. Organized chaos!
