It teaches good programming skills and does a great introduction on c++ concepts. I really liked his explanation on consts and how you can lock a variable down so it can't be changed. If you're starting out in programming this is a good book to start out using to learn c/c++ concepts. I have recomended this book several times to people wanting a good intro book to game programming who have no programming experience. I found it easy to follow along with By Amazon Customer I found it easy to follow along with, it's perfect for a beginner. The examples where clear and concise, unlike quite a few other books that just ramble on and on to fill pages. The answers to the questions can be found online, the book provides the webpage. This book teaches by example, running you through the programming and then explaining what each line of code is for, and why it's best to do things a certain way. It uses the command prompt window exclusively which was disappointing. I expected it to touch on how to create a program through Visual Studio Express. Also, I work as a Data Analyst so I was hoping to be able to get some ideas of how to create a useful program that connects to external data sources and was been let down.
