His father served in the UOR/IITR administration. The campus is an extended family to him. He has been actively involved with Roorkee Alumni Association in Northern California since 1987. ROORKEE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION: (www.iitroorkee.us) • Board member & Program Manager (excellence awards) IIT Roorkee Heritage Foundation (’08-present) Successful launch- Application and Selection process streamlined for 50 awards given at Jubilee days • President, IIT Roorkee Alumni Association of Northern California, (’04-‘06) Hosted California visit of Dr. Prem Vrat in 2003 and introduced him to senior leadership at Cisco, Intel, Nvidia, and Chancellors and Deans at UC Berkeley, Stanford, and San Jose State University CORPORATE LIASION WITH ROORKEE: • Led a Cisco Research team delegation to IITs and IISc (2007) • Got Cisco to sponsor IEEE International Conference on Networks (2008), run by ECS Dept, IITR Results of corporate liaison that Manoj initiated at Dr Prem Vrat’s USA visit in 2003 • Intel opened a Planet Labs on Roorkee Campus (2004) • Cisco gave a research grant for equipment worth $125K (2005) to setup a lab in ECE Dept at IITR • Cisco proposal to upgrade entire IITR campus infrastructure with broadband (heavily discounted) PAN-IIT/ Inter-IIT: Represented IIT Roorkee in all Pan IIT Charter Meets in India and USA SOCIAL SERVICE: see GIVING BACK at www.iitroorkee.us Donated (in the past) to these organizations.
