at home. I found a tarantula and tamed her and kept her as a pet. Eventually I learned enough to impress an old local hunter into letting me accompany him on his hunts, and share the profits of our spoils. He taught me bowman ship and how to use a sword. He left me his home and belongings when he died several years later. By then I was eighteen.
History Betrayal I was born with the taint. Even as a newborn I had my four spiderborn limbs, which my parents did all they could to hide. Though they loved me as much as any of my siblings they knew well the cowardice and bigotry of our village and what would befall me should my taint become known. So they taught me to hide my 'gifts' and act like a normal human boy. Sadly my parents couldn't protect me from my own siblings. When I was but seven my oldest sister Dolsa (I am the youngest of eight children) told the elders of my taint, and they involved her in the plot to kill me. A great party was planned to celebrate some great village ancestor (whom I forget), and my family received an invitation. The whole village was in attendance, but we were to sit with the elders for the feast; we'd won a lottery, we were told. Dressed in our finest, we arrived. I got to present our invitation, being the youngest and my dad wanting to make me feel important. We were seized immediately. The elders captured us all; they did not spare Dolsa. They decided that our whole family was cursed and they planned to kill us all. I was terrified into paralysis, but that broke as my parents' deaths drove me to rage. I killed one of the elders, hiding no more. My siblings all scattered; as far as I know they all escaped, but I never managed to track them down. I was too busy fighting to give them cover to flee. When the village rallied against me I fled. The forest gave my escape cover. The caves in the mountains beyond gave me shelter. The darkness gave me a place to mourn.
Menace
Survival I learned to hunt, to find water, and all of the other tricks of survival in the wild over the next few months. I traveled the mountains and forests, staying clear of villages, doing what I needed to survive. But I knew I couldn't stay in the wild forever. I knew the life my parents had wanted for me, and to honor them I knew I must seek my education and my fortune. With such motivation I made for the nearest large port city. Here I learned the skills to survive in the urban wilds. I was poor, but unlike other urchins I could hunt the sewers for rats, steal good food from the rich from their high-walled mansions, and sneak into libraries to improve my mind. I made a nest in an abandoned mill and made myself
I did not forget the poor of the city. Before I met the hunter I had shared my excess with my fellow urchins and they had rewarded my kindness with information, gifts, and alliances. They also showed me all the hidden parts and paths in the city. So when I became 'respectable' I continued to give back. It was only right; they had become a second family. Lord Jonah viewed them differently. He saw all urchins as a blight on his perfect city and an embarrassment to him personally. He swore to drive them out, and any who aided them. I could not let him slaughter those whose only crime was poverty. To keep my own property and belongings safe and to keep my enemy guessing I donned a mask, and unfurled my spiderborn arms. I armed myself. Whenever and wherever the soldiers attacked my family I drove them back or killed them. I became their protector, and the primary focus of Lord Jonah's rage. Blood Spider was born. Yet I am not enough. Despite my reluctance to trust others I need allies against Lord Jonah and his soldiers. And so I venture out to find heroes whom will help me end Lors Jonah's reign and bring pro auto all in my city, not just the elite whom crush my family with the weight of their riches.
