The LEGO Batman Movie

Typically, Star Wars, CITY and Advanced Models are among 5 themes with the largest number of pieces in a given year. In Q1 2017 it was also The LEGO Batman Movie, Ninjago and Friends that ranked in top 5.

New supply of minifigs increased sharply in 2015 by almost one fifth compared to 2014. In 2016 LEGO released 950 minifigs (158 Star Wars, 152 CITY), which represented 4% increase y-o-y. During Q1 2017 309 minifigs were introduced (69 minifigs less than in Q1 2016).

Average size of set oscillated in range 320-360 pcs. per set during last 3 years. In Q1 2017 dropped to 274 pieces mainly due to the lack of larger sets introduced in Q1 2017 (only 5 sets with +1,000 pcs.) and also introduction of new small size 1 sets such as BrickHeadz.

Q1 2017 was a battle between The LEGO Batman Movie and Star Wars theme The LEGO Batman Movie won in terms of number of pieces and total value (RRP) of sets released in Q1 2017. Star Wars was first in terms of number of sets and minifigs. The LEGO Batman movie sets were selling by $0.02 cheaper than Star Wars sets. The LEGO Batman Movie wins in Q1 2017! J

Assembly Square was the most expensive set released in Q1 2017 to commemorate 10th anniversary of Modular Buildings subtheme, followed by sailing ship Silent Mary from Pirates of Caribbean and Arkham Asylum from The LEGO Batman Movie.
