NOTICE OF INTRODUCTION OF THE BROADCASTING AMENDMENT BILL, 2015 INTO PARLIAMENT The Minister of Communications intends introducing the Broadcasting Amendment Bill, 2015, into Parliament during November 2015. The explanatory summary of the Amendment Bill is hereby published in accordance with Rule 241(1) (c) of the Rules of the National Assembly.
The Amendment Bill provides for:
To amend the Broadcasting Act, 1999, so as to delete the definition of appointing body; to reduce the number of non-executive members of the Board of the South African Broadcasting Corporation Limited; to amend the procedure for the appointment and removal of non-executive members of the Board; to provide for the appointment of a nomination committee to make recommendations to the Minister for the appointment of non-executive members of the Board; to reconstitute the executive committee; to amend the procedure for the removal and resignation of non-executive members of the Board; to amend the procedure for the dissolution of the Board and for the appointment of an interim Board; and to provide for matters connected therewith. .
