Riverside Police Department Information

On Monday May 23, 2016 the Riverside Police Department was advised by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF) that the Longcommon Road/Riverside Road railroad grade crossing will be completely closed starting at 9:00 AM on Friday June 3rd, 2016 to be completely rebuilt and improved. The Longcommon Road/Riverside Road BNSF Railroad crossing will be completely closed for one week with a tentative reopening date of Friday June 10th, 2016 at 4:00 PM. This date and time is subject to change depending on how quickly the work can be completed or if any delays are encountered. The grade crossing will be completely closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic during this time and both drivers and pedestrians will need to use the designated detour routes. The designated detour routes coming from the north are East Burlington Street to Cowley Road, Cowley Road to East Quincy Street and East Quincy Street to Riverside Road. Coming from the south the detour will be East Quincy Street to Cowley Road, Cowley Road to East Burlington Street to Longcommon Road. Also, be advised that East Burlington Street in the Central Business District is also under construction between Longcommon Road and Harlem Avenue. This will add to the congestion in the area. The Riverside Police Department will have additional personnel in the area to monitor traffic flow and to assist if necessary. There will also be railroad personnel from “BNSF” on scene directing traffic and pedestrians to the detours.
