DIGITAL & INTERACTIVE MEDIA Syllabus COURSE DESCRIPTION Students will develop proficiency in designing, importing, and manipulating advanced text, graphics, audio, and video used in presentation management, multimedia productions, publishing systems, and emerging technologies. Students will complete excessive training using the Certiport program in order to earn Adobe certifications in Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Premiere, and InDesign.
Introduction This is a course designed to provide students with opportunities to develop skills to meet the changing needs of business in the areas related to graphics and multimedia. Students will work collaboratively and as a contributing member of a production team by participating in a variety of roles. Students learn to prepare presentations in a variety of formats. General Objectives 1) demonstrate proficiency in developing professional audio and visual materials 2) demonstrate use of a presentation system: a) analyze the effectiveness of layout, color, special effects, and media objects; b) integrate graphics, sound, video objects, using various media devices.

Grading: Classwork = 50% (Assignments = 45% with projects counting twice, Completion = 5%) Tests & Quizzes = 50% (count twice)
NOTE: A file handed in as the “wrong file format” and/or will not open is assigned a grade of ZERO. The file may be handed in again in the correct format for full credit if it is handed in by the original or extended due date. A file handed in by the “final late due date” will be assigned a grade starting at 70.
Make-up Work: If you are absent, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to initiate the make-up procedure. Daily/weekly assignments are posted in eClassroom. The previous day’s assignments will be reviewed at the beginning of each class. Students will be allowed five (5) class days from the date of the absence(s) to turn in assignments. If you have an extenuating circumstance, please request an extension BEFORE the deadline.
