Hello, and welcome to the WPI Pep Band! On behalf of the Pep Band Officer Board, we are so happy that you have taken an interesting in joining the band! This letter contains all the information you need on the Band’s new instrument buy back program. If you have any questions, feel free to ask any member of the officer board! In recent years, the pep band has exploded in size. This has created a need for many new instruments. This program is an answer to that problem. Depending on the availability of loaner instruments, you might be asked to purchase your own instrument. Find an instrument and show it to us! If we think it is the right one for you and the band, go ahead and buy it. Send us proof of purchase and you are good to go! Throughout your time in the band, the instrument is yours, and yours only. When you graduate, or decide you no longer want to play with the band, we will purchase the instrument back from you. Here is a list of information for the program:
Purchase ● ● ●
When you find an instrument you like, send it to the officers We will either give you the go ahead, or work with you to find a better option! Once you decide to buy it, send the board a proof of purchase as well as the completed information sheet.
Playing ● ● ●
Play your heart out! Take the best care you can with your instrument in the time you have it. We understand that accidents may happen. We will be forgiving, and deal with them on a case by case basis.
Selling ● ●
●
When you want to sell the instrument back, notify the board a month ahead so the funding can be procured. The amount we will buy it for is the amount you paid for it, minus any significant repairs as well as 5 percent per year for depreciation. ■ A repair is considered significant if it costs greater than or equal to fifteen percent of the purchase cost. ■ If the instrument is damaged by accident, let us know as soon as possible, so it can be documented. If you end up falling in love with your instrument and want to keep it, go for it! It is all yours.
If you are in a situation where purchase of an instrument is impossible, let a board member know. Our goal is to allow everyone who wants to play to do so. We will work with you to find a solution. All information will be kept confidential.
