Buyers’ Steps to Target Direct Deal Ad Units Ad Exchange sellers have the ability to make any ad unit available to one or more buyers at a fixed, prenegotiated price before that inventory is made available to other buyers via the auction; this is referred to as a “direct deal ad unit.” Here are the steps to facilitate transactions: 1. Speak to the seller(s) about the following items: Details about the inventory that they plan to make available (What site is it? Is it ROS, sports, homepage, etc?) Negotiate a CPM that you can both agree on. Ask the seller what domains you need to target in your campaign(s). Tell the seller the destination URLs of the advertisers you plan on running. They will need to make sure they are not blocking these URLs in their advertiser settings. Tell the seller what ad technology (or technologies) you have declared in your ads. They will need to make sure they have allowed these in their settings. If you plan on using re-marketing lists when targeting these sites, ask the seller if they allow that in their ad unit. If you plan to do data collection when buying these sites, ask the seller if they allow that in their ad unit. 2. Create your campaign with your desired settings. 3. When creating your ad group, make sure you do the following: Set your max CPM bid to at least the agreed upon price. Target the exact domains provided to you by the seller. Make sure that you are not excluding any sites, categories, or topics in your ad group or campaign. This could cause one or more of the sites to be blocked. Create your ads using the agreed upon destination URLs and ad technologies. Remember to check off the corresponding box if you are using remarketing lists or collecting data. 4. Once your campaign is live and all ads have been approved, notify the seller so they can approve your creatives in their Ad Review Center. 5. Once the seller has confirmed approval, you should see impressions running on the seller’s sites within 24 hours, assuming that your campaign is live and all ads have been reviewed and approved. 6.
