We are now in our second marking period of the year. Parents, should have received their child’s first progress report. I hope that your child performed their best. If not, we have several supports in place including Academic Support Time that takes place Wednesdays & Thursdays. Students can visit any of their teachers for help. 9th and 10th graders, who got out the gate slow, will be required to go to the Library every
Wednesday and Thursday until they are passing their classes with a C or higher. We also have after -school peer-tutoring. Students can sign up or drop in. The month of October also kicks off our Homecoming festivities. Our football games will take place on Friday October 20th, followed by the Homecoming Dance on Saturday in our main gym. The excitement is always palpable and we are looking forward to this time of year.
8th Grade Family Night Our annual 8th Grade Family Night is coming Thursday October 26th from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Our theme is Capture Capuchino, so please come out and support our efforts. We will have and admin presentation. Students will go on a
scavenger hunt and we will have a Parent Faire where all of our parent groups, student clubs, school departments, and athletics will be on display. This night is the first of many outreach efforts.
Next, I want to call your attention to several students who should be recognized for their achievement on the PSAT, which is the practice SAT test. These students are placed among the top candidates across the nation, which opens scholarship opportunities. Let’s Congratulate the following: Bryden Fong, Lauren Valles, Marisa Wong, Julia Cordero, Niven Jayanthi
Enjoy the beginning of fall, Ms. Shanks
Quote of the Month: “Kind people are the best kind of people.” Author Unknown
Compassion, a poem Without compassion
From all the sadness that we hear
Pass it on to someone else
What are we?
And we seek to quail our fears
If we can inspire Compassion
Mere strangers in a raging sea?
That is compassion
To all mankind
So when we are feeling all alone
Living and practicing Compassion all the time
With no place to run, no place to be. Then, when we are called to action To help someone who is down and out
Then someone comes along And with a touch of kindness
There is no doubt
Fills our hearts with a song
That is compassion
That is compassion
And when we are moved to tears
When someone shows compassion to you
Then our world will be just fine. Written by Shryon Shenko
