How Our Service Can Help You Supporting Health and Wellbeing You have been given this leaflet because you have been referred to the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Service. This leaflet will help you understand why you have been referred to our services and how we can support you. What Happens Next? You will be initially contacted by a member of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service who will discuss your difficulties with you and help to consider the best therapy option for you. These may be services offered by the IAPT team or other local services who offer emotional or practical support. Group interventions are one of the therapy options available from the service. These are offered on an ongoing basis and cover the broad range of common mental health problems. We will normally attempt to contact you by telephone, however if you require an alternative method of contact or require support with translation, please let us know. Many people can feel overwhelmed at times, which can lead to difficulties that you need some help and support with. There are lots of reasons why this might happen, for example life changing events like the loss of a loved one, or loss of employment, or it might feel like there is no reason at all. Mental wellbeing can affect how you feel physically and vice versa, so many physical symptoms can be related to experiences of anxiety or depression. Also, when thoughts are negative and you feel low in mood, this can impact on your physical health and usual lifestyle. You are not on your own; we can support you in managing these thoughts and improving these symptoms.
