Dear City Neighbors Families, We turn the calendar page again this week, for the last time of school year 2016-2017. Welcome June! All the teachers are thinking about ending the school year well, offering children activities that promote a great sense of growth and accomplishment. Kindergarten had a terrific All School last week; 1st grade will gather as a school community for supper this week; second grade all school, third grade holds a picnic, 4th grade is planting a garden, 5th grades are visiting Middle School Presentations of Learning a window into their future next year. And Middle Schoolers are reflecting on their year’s growth and presenting for a full 30 minutes a year’s worth of learning to parents, advisors and invited guests. It is a busy time, with a lot of satisfaction. At City Neighbors, the rituals that help us end the year well continue next week and we ask that families do their best to maintain the routine for their children (including on-time arrival and staying until 3:15) as this provides a feeling of security as we close the year. Next week, students will visit their next year classrooms and get a peek into the future after summer. On Wednesday, June 7th, we anticipate our school Day At The Park, led by Coach Shannon Byrd, with field games and camaraderie for all City Neighbors students and staff. June 9th we hold our 8th grade graduation. -Kate
