DIVISION MEMORANDUM No. 118 s. 2015 26TH NATIONAL STATISTICS MONTH (NSM) AND SECOND WORLD STATISTICS DAY (VVSD) To:

1. Pursuant to DepEd Memorandum No. 104 s. 2015, the City Schools Division of Dasmarifias joins all agencies, departments, and bureaus of the government, the City Government of Dasmarifias, academic institutions, and private sectors in celebrating the following: a. 26 th National Statistics Month on October Theme: Pagyamanin at Gamitin ang Estadistika, Kalusugan Para sa Lahat ay AbotKamay Na (in view of the role of this year's host, the Department of Health (DOH). Objectives: • promote, enhance and instill nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society; and • elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standard of statistics in the country. b. Second World Statistics Day (WSD) on October 20, 2015. Theme: Better data, Better lives (as recommended by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) Objectives: • emphasize the need for high quality official statistics geared towards improving people's lives;

recognize the crucial role of statistics in nation-building and tracking progress through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); further support the work of statisticians across different settings, culture and domains; and; promote public knowledge and accessibility to timely, reliable and quality statistics for evidence-based and efficient decision-making.
2. The suggested activities to be undertaken include symposia, workshops, orientations, seminars, exhibits, slide shows, lectures, film-showing, statistical quiz, publication ot statistical reports indicators, and other relevant information, among others with particular emphasis on the theme or the region's selected sub-theme, if any. Reports and documentation (in soft and hard copies) on activities conducted by the schools shall be submitted to the Division Office do Dr. Emmanuel L. Resurreccion, OIC-ASDS/Chief SGOD on or before November 6, 2015. 4. Immediate and widest dissemination of this Memorandum is desired.
