Office of Academic Affairs CLIMB Response Prompt Directions: We would like to assess the impact of the CLIMB experience on the learning outcomes that have been given to you by your instructor/director. Please draft a written response to the prompt below and place the response into your SHC Undergraduate ePortfolio under the tab labeled Reflections. Add a new link to that tab and label the link CLIMB. Please contact Dr. Jenny Good (
[email protected]) if you need support or assistance in navigating the ePortfolio. Your instructor/director will be reading the response and rating it according to the rubric in this document. Scenario: You have just completed a high-impact experiential learning opportunity through SHC’s CLIMB program. Please write a reflective essay to your CLIMB instructor or director that shares the impact of your CLIMB experience. Within this essay, be certain to briefly describe the specifics of your experience and address each of the following areas of the experience’s potential impact:
Analysis of Knowledge: How did the experience relate to your academic knowledge (i.e. prior coursework, major, etc.)? Community Awareness: How did the experience expose you to challenges in the community setting and how did it help you to understand your role in upholding human dignity while confronting those challenges? Appreciation of Diversity: What did you learn about people in the community that may be different from you? Development of Self-Identity: What did you learn about yourself personally, intellectually, socially, and professionally?
Format: You will be expected to provide a thorough overview of your thoughts, which will require paragraphing and adherence to English language conventions. Please consider drafting an appropriate introduction that describes your experience, make logical transitions between each of the outcomes stated above, and synthesize your thoughts in a conclusion. This essay must be included in your SHC Undergraduate ePortfolio through Digication. You are encouraged to add and label photos, videos, and additional reflections to your ePortfolio that capture and/or deeply demonstrate your growth during the CLIMB experience. Assessment: Your instructor/director will rate your response using the following rubric. In coursework, the analytic rubric can add up to a total of 20 points for an assignment that can be weighted into your course grade as determined by your instructor:
