IDS Achieves CMMI-SVC Level 3: An Important Milestone for Flawless Execution By: IDS Communications 20-Jan-11
Congratulations to IDS and, in particular, the programs that support life-cycle sustainment services! IDS received formal notification from the Software Engineering Institute that we successfully achieved a Capability Maturity Model® Integration for Services (CMMI®-SVC) version 1.3 Maturity Level 3 rating, based on the independent appraisal conducted last November.
IDS' CMMI-SVC team shows off the certificate received for achieving Capability Maturity Model Integration for Services version 1.3 Maturity Level 3 rating.
The appraisal team affirmed that IDS has the tools and processes necessary to execute our IDS life-cycle sustainment service in a managed, repeatable manner across the entire range of our Mission Support Services, for example, logistics, technical manuals, parts and operational availability. This is an important competitive differentiator for IDS. The IDS appraisal covered many different operations and support functions and programs. Other companies have had only a single project or service
function appraised. Flawless Execution Our intent is that our systems work the first time, every time, throughout their operational lives. That level of availability and reliability requires flawless execution in our support and services, as well as in the design and production processes that optimize system reliability. This CMMI-SVC v1.3 Level 3 rating is an important milestone in achieving the level of execution our customers and warfighters require. It indicates a high level of process discipline, which translates into customer confidence that we can deliver predictable quality, cost-effectively, with minimal project risk. “This was the first CMMI-SVC V1.3 in the world performed and the largest - spanning the country, and servicing very complex systems,” said Ralph Williams, external Lead Appraiser from Cooliemon, Inc. “I am extremely impressed with how Raytheon IDS implemented industry best practices reflected in the CMMI-SVC Model — such as how they plan, manage and execute service programs in a systematic manner. This was impressive to see under the microscope of a formal SEI Appraisal. “While continuously improving and leveraging Lean, Six Sigma and CMMI initiatives to reduce rework and waste, Raytheon IDS is leading the way for Lifecycle Sustainment – WELL DONE!” You can see the published appraisal results for Raytheon IDS on the Software Engineering Website. Capability Maturity Model and CMMI are registered in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office by Carnegie Mellon University.
