It's possible that your files could be lost by the server or hacked and viewed by someone else. Though the chances of this happening are very low, you should never keep your only copy of an important document in the cloud. These are the types of docs you can create and share with Google Docs:
Demo Google Docs - create and collaborate easily Accessing Google Drive If you have a Google Account, you're ready to get started. Using an internet browser, just navigate to drive.google.com and sign in to your Google account.
Creating Google Docs Although the types of docs are very different from one another, the process for creating and sharing docs is the same for all types. To Create a New Doc: 1. Navigate to your Google Drive. 2. Locate and select the CREATE button. 3. Select the type of doc you would like to create from the drop-down menu. Your new doc will open automatically in a new tab on your browser.

4. At the top of the page, locate and click Untitled document. The Rename Document dialog box will appear. Type a name for your doc, then click OK .
5. If you accidentally closed your doc or need to make revisions, you can access it again from your Google Drive, where it will be saved automatically. You may notice that there is no save button. This is because Google Docs uses auto-save, which automatically and immediately saves your files as you edit them.
Converting Files to Google Docs Format If you are uploading a file that you wish to edit or collaborate with others later, you will want to convert the file to Google Docs format. Only certain file types, like MS Office files and PDF documents can be converted to Google Docs format. The converted Google Doc can turn out looking a bit different, depending on the level of formatting, or you may even lose some information from the original file. Always review a converted file before sharing it with others.
Sharing and Collaborating Share to let others view and even edit that same file. To Share: 1. Locate and select the file you wish to share.

2. The file action buttons will appear at the top of the page. Click the Share button.
3. The Sharing settings dialog box will open. a. To Share a Link: 1. Click Change... to make the file accessible to anyone with the link. 2. The Visibility options will appear. Select Anyone with the link and then click Save. 3. The Sharing settings dialog box will appear with the Link to share. Right-click the link and then select Copy from the drop-down menu. (Ctrl+C will also work) 4. Paste the link into the body of your email, chat message, or post. Use your best judgement when making any of your files public. Even if you only share the link to a file with a few people, that document could be found by anyone online. You should never make personal or sensitive information stored on your Google Drive publicly available. b. To Share a File with a Limited Group of People: 1. In the Add people: box, type the Google account of the people you'd like to share the file with. 2. Click the drop-down arrow next to each person's name to decide whether they can edit, comment on, or just view the file. Remember, only files in Google Docs format can be edited online by different people. 3. Google Drive calls the people you share files with editors. By default, editors are allowed to invite new people to access the file. If you want, you can prevent this by clicking [Change]. A second Sharing settings dialog box will appear. 4. Click Share & save. Your file will be shared. Whenever you share a file, that file will be marked as Shared on your Google Drive. You can only use the collaboration features for files created with Google Docs.
