PRESS RELEASE
CodeMonkey Expands Activities Internationally
Tel Aviv, IL – May 11, 2016 – CodeMonkey, the world's leading game-based learning platform for teaching children code, is proud to announce three new strategic partnerships as a result of their success in hosting the Coding Olympics, an Israeli nation-wide coding competition. In Israel CodeMonkey’s unique ability to get kids excited about learning code was recently realized by many students who participated in Israel’s annual Coding Olympics. The Israeli Ministry of Education and the Center for Educational Technology (CET), Israel’s largest educational publisher, chose CodeMonkey as the platform to carry out the nation-wide competition. The CodeMonkey Development Team created unique challenges for the competition. Over 250,000 Israeli students from 1,700 schools participated in the Coding Olympics for three months starting in December 2015 and ending in April 2016, with a final event in Tel Aviv. “The Coding Olympics Final Event was very exciting,” said CodeMonkey Co-founder and VP of Business Development, Yishai Pinchover. “The top 100 scoring schools each sent a team of four students to compete. The enthusiasm and excitement that these 8-10 year-olds demonstrated proved to us that coding can be taught in a way that’s very engaging. This was the best indication to us that we’re on the right track. We are now in discussion with a number of countries and educational ministries around the world to implement the Coding Olympics Model onto the CodeMonkey platform,” concluded Pinchover. In the United States Recently, CodeMonkey achieved substantial progress in sales and marketing as the Start-Up forged a partnership with Learning.com, a leading player in the EdTech arena, to expand its platform into schools and districts throughout the country. “We’re confident that this partnership will accelerate our growth in the U.S. market very quickly,” said Jonathan Schor, CodeMonkey Co-founder and CEO. “Partnering with Learning.com has high potential; Learning.com works with 2,500 districts and serves 5.6 million students from over 20 countries.” In Japan CodeMonkey has announced a partnership with leading educational publisher J21 Corporation. Mike Kato, the founder, president and CEO of J21, has big plans for CodeMonkey in Japan. “We’ve already introduced CodeMonkey to the Japanese officials in the Ministry of Education, as well as at educational conferences. The reaction has been very positive,” said Kato. J21 has a dedicated website published and is currently selling CodeMonkey subscriptions to home users, and is looking to target schools in the near future. CodeMonkey is also opening doors in other parts of the world, including Brazil, Russia, Sweden
and Kazakhstan, where partnerships, pilots and government-led initiatives are underway. In Sweden, CodeMonkey is currently being marketed and sold by leading publisher Natur&Kultur, and in Brazil by Santillana/Moderna. ** About CodeMonkey: CodeMonkey, a leading game-based-learning platform, teaches students eight years and older the fundamental principles of computer programming.
