Statementxx A potent spring storm will bring significant snow to the Colorado mountains from Wednesday night into Friday evening. Many mountain areas could see 1 to 3 feet of snow by Friday, with the highest totals in the Front Range. The storm will produce snowfall intensities of from 1 to 3 inches per hour at times. If this forecast verifies, backcountry travelers can expect a significant and rapid increase in avalanche hazard Wednesday night through Friday. Natural and human-triggered avalanches will be likely, and backcountry travelers will need to exercise caution on any steep slopes with more than 8 inches of new or wind-drifted snow.
