Community​ ​Involvement There​ ​is​ ​so​ ​much​ ​that​ ​you​ ​can​ ​do​ ​to​ ​be​ ​proactive​ ​about​ ​spreading​ ​kindness​ ​all​ ​year​ ​long​ ​and​ ​be​ ​an​ ​example in​ ​your​ ​community. I​ ​Choose​ ​Kindness Set​ ​up​ ​a​ ​table​ ​where​ ​passersby​ ​can​ ​sign​ ​a​ ​pledge​ ​committing​ ​to​ ​spread​ ​kindness​ ​in​ ​your​ ​community.​ ​Let​ ​them​ ​sign​ ​a kindness​ ​pledge​ ​and​ ​then​ ​trace​ ​their​ ​hand​ ​in​ ​chalk​ ​on​ ​the​ ​sidewalk. Blue​ ​Yarn Give​ ​people​ ​blue​ ​yarn​ ​to​ ​wrap​ ​around​ ​their​ ​wrists​ ​and​ ​help​ ​spread​ ​the​ ​message​ ​about​ ​Flood​ ​the​ ​Shore​ ​with​ ​Kindness!​ ​You don’t​ ​have​ ​to​ ​give​ ​a​ ​speech​ ​every​ ​time​ ​that​ ​you​ ​give​ ​someone​ ​yarn,​ ​but​ ​often,​ ​people​ ​will​ ​ask​ ​you​ ​why​ ​you​ ​are​ ​doing​ ​it.​ ​Then someone​ ​later​ ​in​ ​the​ ​day​ ​will​ ​see​ ​that​ ​person​ ​and​ ​ask​ ​why​ ​they​ ​are​ ​wearing​ ​it.​ ​Eventually,​ ​it​ ​can​ ​reach​ ​more​ ​and​ ​more​ ​people and​ ​raise​ ​awareness​ ​on​ ​a​ ​bigger​ ​scale! Chalking Write​ ​a​ ​message​ ​with​ ​chalk​ ​on​ ​the​ ​ground​ ​on​ ​a​ ​regularly​ ​frequented​ ​walkway​ ​in​ ​your​ ​neighborhood.​ ​Your​ ​message​ ​could​ ​be something​ ​as​ ​simple​ ​as​ ​“Flood​ ​the​ ​Shore​ ​With​ ​Kindness”​ ​or​ ​you​ ​can​ ​add​ ​drawings​ ​to​ ​your​ ​message.​ ​You​ ​could​ ​also​ ​rally​ ​the artists​ ​in​ ​your​ ​neighborhood​ ​to​ ​make​ ​a​ ​beautiful​ ​chalk​ ​mural. Wear​ ​Blue​ ​Day Students​ ​can​ ​organize​ ​a​ ​Wear​ ​Blue​ ​Day​ ​at​ ​your​ ​school.​ ​To​ ​prepare​ ​for​ ​this,​ ​run​ ​a​ ​t-shirt​ ​sale​ ​in​ ​advance​ ​(you​ ​can​ ​use​ ​blue t-shirts​ ​or​ ​white​ ​t-shirts​ ​with​ ​blue​ ​designs).​ ​Promote​ ​it​ ​by​ ​donating​ ​the​ ​proceeds​ ​to​ ​a​ ​local​ ​charity​ ​of​ ​your​ ​choice.​ ​Another option​ ​is​ ​holding​ ​a​ ​t-shirt​ ​tie-dying​ ​event.​ ​Get​ ​your​ ​friends​ ​together​ ​to​ ​make​ ​their​ ​blue​ ​shirts​ ​and​ ​get​ ​the​ ​conversation started​ ​about​ ​Flood​ ​the​ ​Shore​ ​with​ ​Kindness! Get​ ​the​ ​Sports​ ​Teams​ ​Involved Partner​ ​with​ ​your​ ​town’s​ ​recreation​ ​sports​ ​teams​ ​or​ ​the​ ​intramural/club​ ​sports​ ​teams​ ​at​ ​your​ ​school.​ ​Ask​ ​them​ ​to​ ​wear​ ​blue during​ ​their​ ​games​ ​to​ ​promote​ ​Flood​ ​the​ ​Jersey​ ​Shore​ ​with​ ​Kindness!​ ​This​ ​can​ ​include​ ​blue​ ​ribbons,​ ​sweat​ ​bands,​ ​socks​ ​or other​ ​items. Host​ ​a​ ​School-Wide​ ​“Kindness​ ​is…”​ ​Photo​ ​Contest Invite​ ​all​ ​of​ ​the​ ​school​ ​clubs​ ​to​ ​partake​ ​in​ ​a​ ​photo​ ​contest​ ​on​ ​Instagram​ ​or​ ​Facebook​ ​where​ ​they​ ​can​ ​express​ ​what​ ​kindness is​ ​to​ ​them.​ ​You​ ​and​ ​your​ ​peers​ ​can​ ​write​ ​your​ ​messages​ ​on​ ​small​ ​white​ ​boards,​ ​paper​ ​talk​ ​bubbles​ ​or​ ​posters.​ ​Remember​ ​to include​ ​the​ ​hashtag​ ​#FloodtheShorewithKindness​ ​when​ ​posting​ ​to​ ​social​ ​media!
