Ellie Knott’s Ecuador Expedition Fundraiser Why am I doing this? I need to raise £4300, so I can take part in an expedition to Ecuador in Summer 2013. The trip is being arranged through Crompton House School with Camps International where 28 students and teachers are working together to raise £4300 each. Whilst I am in Ecuador the projects I will be involved with will focus on improving community facilities, refurbishing the local school and creating employment opportunities for the local people. Project work may include construction work, refurbishing school and community buildings, teaching conversational English, working with the women’s group to make and sell goods, supporting organic coffee and Cacao farming and playing sports with children. I hope to gain a deeper understanding of other communities, the environment, sociology, history and culture; to take part in worthwhile, sustainable and meaningful projects; and to experience a real-life adventure whilst participating in the improvement of rural communities and conservation projects. I want to make a difference! It really is an amazing opportunity to help others in another part of the world.
