A Crackpot Theory by Jackson Kibler

Euron has (un)knowingly hatched a huge evil sea dragon that will be blue and replace Viserion as one of the three dragons…Oh and btw, Archmaester Marwyn and Euron are like BFFFs First, as this is a draft and I am blowing off work right now, I do not have the books to get exact quotes or text locations, most of my sources are from the wiki, which at least has a fair amount of sourced quotes. Also, this theory is deadly because there is an abundance of rabbit holes to chase here (e.g. every damn word out of Patchface’s mouth is a trumpet to me). Lastly, this is a crackpot theory and you will surely disagree with 90% of it, but don’t come at me bro. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Huge Evil Sea Dragons Euron, Warlocks and Eggs Blue? ... REPLACE VISERION?!?!?! Best Fucking Friends Forever Summary Timeline of Events

Huge Evil Sea Dragons Dragons fucking breath fire and shit and water dowses fire, no way this works. Also, how do you suppose they fly in water, dingus? (also, according to spellcheck, dingus is a word. Neat). Lastly, a dragon is an animal beyond moral judgment, a lion isn’t evil for killing a Zebra. Okay, I see where you’re coming from but pump the brakes and give me a minute because what is dead may never die and we have a dead sea dragon readily available. Insert Nagga stage left. Let’s recall the kingsmoot for a moment, taking place on Old Wyk on a crest known as Nagga’s Hill. Who was Nagga you ask? Oh just a gargantuan fucking sea dragon. According to the ironborn legend, Nagga was the first sea dragon, able to feed on krakens and leviathans and drown islands when angry. The Grey King, helped by the Drowned God, managed to slay her on the shores of the island Old Wyk and built there his hall out of her bones. Her jaws became his throne and her teeth made his crown. He warmed his hall with her living fire. However, when the Grey King died, the Storm God drowned out her fire and the sea took the throne. Only her bones that made the pillars and beams remain In addition to Nagga being a sea dragon according to iron island legend, it is supported through its name. Nāga is the name if a common Buddhist/Hindu snake/dragon deity (also the Nagini is the name of Voldemort’s snake and the female name for the deity). GRRM tends to have a very deliberate naming convention (Eddard = Wealthy Protector; Brandon = Prince). Well what about being evil? Back to the quote shows: Grey King + Drowned God – vs – Nagga + Storm God The Drowned God and Storm God are known as mortal enemies and are constantly fighting. The iron islanders believe in both but only worship the Drowned God as they see him as the good in good vs. evil. Because Nagga was a creature of the Storm God, it is vicariously evil by association; this gets me very juiced up – Also, another Rabbit hole connecting the Storm God with the founding of Storm’s End and the Storm King’s, and the Drowned God with Patchface surviving while the Lord and Lady of Storm’s End die – but I digress. FYI, the Grey King is of the First Men prior to the Seastone Chair. And the size?

Ahead loomed the sacred shore of Old Wyk and the grassy hill above it, where the ribs of Nagga rose from the earth like the trunks of great white trees, as wide around as a dromond's mast and twice as tall. Victarion I, ASOS A dromond is all but guaranteed to be a dromon, which is a 5th-12th century Mediterranean ship having 20-40 oars on each side with a triangular sail. At 32 meters in length it is a pretty good sized warship for the era with a mast of 6-10 meters making Nagga’s ribs 16 meters or about 50 feet. I think the point is made with 50 foot ribs, but for the sake of fuck it, let’s scale this bad boy out to match the Wondering Albatross in proportions. Wondering Albatross stats: Rib Length: Unknown, let’s say 40% of chest circumference so about 1.2 ft Chest circumference: 3.5 ft Length: 5 ft Wingspan: 10 ft Weight: 28 lbs Net Payload: 11 lbs (Consumption in one sitting, an eagle can lift and toss an animal 3x its weight but only a 4 lb payload) Dragon Stats: Rib Length: 50 ft Chest Circumference: 2.5 * 50 ft = 125 ft Length: 5/3.5 * 125 ft = 178.6 ft Wingspan: 10/5 * 178.6 ft = 357.1 ft (Holy Humphrey Bogart that is huge) Weight: 28 lb/10 * 357.1 ft = 999.9 lbs (assuming they also have hollow bones) Net Payload: 11/28 * 999.9 lbs = 392.8 lbs (probably can lift and toss 3,000+ lbs) So basically Nagga is probably about the size of Balerion. But wait, Balerion can swallow a mammoth whole and a mammoth is like 3,000 pounds!!! How can this guy only lift 400?!?! Well, an albatross is probably not the perfect proxy, but probably not that far off. Dragon’s we see on tv/movies have the dimensions of a Turkey if you really look at them and are unrealistic for flight. A dragon needs to be more like a Pterodactyl, long huge wings for a comparatively tiny body. An albatross has a high aspect ratio (long skinny wings) which reduce the gross payload but also reduce mass at a greater rate, so even though an eagle can lift more gross weight, it weighs relatively more so its net payload is relatively less. Science Bitch! So if a dragon had more eagle like wings, it would weigh more and be able to carry less additional weight beyond its own body weight. Long story short, Balerion could probably pick up a mammoth and toss it, but could not actually swallow one (as noted in the book) unless it stayed grounded until it had a 2,500 pound poop. So we’ve established that there were sea dragons and the only known one was evil and had a wingspan bigger than a football field. Hell Yeah!!

Euron, Warlocks and Eggs Euron…Euron is balls deep in awesomeness. The list of his association with magic is simply ridiculous. IMO he doesn’t necessarily have any magic innate, like warging with Bran, but he has acquired countless means of using it and is pretty damn good at it. He was in Asshai in roughly the same time as Archmaester Marwyn and knowing GRRM story arcs, likely met him and shared in his quest for knowledge of the mysteries. -His Eye: According to Theon it is a “black eye shining with malice” and his standard involves a black eye with a red iris. Black and Red are Targ colors and very closely associated with many forms of magic. The “shining” makes me think that his eye is obsidian and the red iris makes me think it is an obsidian candle similar to the ones at the Citadel. In addition, his nickname; Crow’s Eye. Crows are repeatedly associated with far sight and messaging in ASOIAF. Other than it being black and crow’s being black, there’s no link between him and crows for him to earn the nickname crow’s eye unless the name is referring to an ability of supernatural sight (more than just long distance). Some argue that a crow took out his eye but that’s Mors Umber who is

nicknamed Crowfood, and GRRM is not likely to have two characters with this type of a backstory repeated. In countless mythologies, blindness is associated with prophetic and farseeing qualities such as the three blind witches in many Greek stories like Hercules. Also, sacrificing to gain these abilities is quite common. I believe that Euron sacrificed his seeing eye for a farseeing one. He has the ability to strategize, see the happenings around the world and act accordingly. His plan to attack the fleet in Lannisport during the Greyjoy rebellion, his vision leading to election in Kingsmoot, his navigation far away from the sight of land to find the Shield Isles, etc. I also think the metaphor extends in opposition as well. With only one natural eye I think he has lost depth perception figuratively. I think his big picture planning and success will come back to bite him as he may lack the understanding of how his actions fit into the context outside of his own desires. -Shade of the Evening (SOTE): We don’t know much about it as the only experience we have is Dany drinking prior to entering the House of the Undying (HOTU). Personally, the first time I read the scene I took the hallucinations/prophecies as a power within the house in the same way that if she didn’t take the first door on the right every time, she would be magically trapped forever. I took shade of the evening to be nothing more than an intoxicant. I later revised my thinking. Compare Dany drinking it prior to entering the HOTU to Bran drinking the Weirwood Paste (WP) prior to using his greensight with Bloodraven Dany raised the glass to her lips. The first sip tasted like ink and spoiled meat, foul, but when she swallowed it seemed to come to life within her. She could feel tendrils spreading through her chest, like fingers of fire coiling around her heart, and on her tongue was a taste like honey and anise and cream, like mother’s milk and Drogo’s seed, like red meat and hot blood and molten gold. It was all the tastes she had ever known, and none of them … and then the glass was empty. -Daenerys IV ACOK It had a bitter taste, though not so bitter as acorn paste. The first spoonful was the hardest to get down. He almost retched it right back up. The second tasted better. The third was almost sweet. The rest he spooned up eagerly. Why had he thought it that it was bitter? It tasted of honey, of new-fallen snow, of pepper and cinnamon and the last kiss his mother gave him. -Bran III ADWD SOTE: First sip tasted of spoiled meat and foul. WP: First spoonful bitter, hard to get down and he almost threw up. SOTE: It filled her body and got better the more she drank and transitioned to honey. WP: It got better with each spoonful and also transitioned to honey. SOTE: Tasted like Drogo’s seed (confirmed, Dany gives blowies), red meat etc. These are things that comfort Dany and remind her of happiness WP: Tasted like Jojen’s see…I mean new-fallen snow and his mother’s kiss. Also things that comfort and remind him of happiness. The similarities are too much and I believe these are essentially the same ‘potion’ for the sam e purpose. They enable (and for the already gifted enhance) farsight. Allowing visions of past, present and future As it was the WP that enabled Bran to see events in past, future and present, it goes that SOTE has the same purpose for Euron and allows him to see prophecy in a similar way to Dany in HOTU. IMO I don’t see it as a far stretch that Euron sees himself as the Prince that was Promised (PTWP) because of his narcissistic nature and the fact that during the Greyjoy rebellion he was a Prince for a time. It is possible that he saw the prophecy for PTWP while drinking SOTE and applied the signs to himself. Daenerys is the one, born amidst salt and smoke. The dragons prove it..

-Aemon to Sam about Dany being PTWP The Iron Islands have many salt and smoke features and Euron may have applied this to himself. There is also Azor Ahai which is probably the same prophecy but from an Asshai perspective which would fall in line with Euron’s visit. When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt. -Melisandre Does Euron see Dany as another Nissa Nissa and that’s why he sent Victarion? He could have also just as easily interpret the red comet as a sign for himself as any number of characters have misinterpreted it. Warlocks…These creepy/rapey mother fuckers are one of like 3 or 4 groups to show any real power with magic, and Euron has three (had four but one talked trash to Euron and he made the other three eat him). How does one acquire Warlocks and who are these 3 (4)? Well let’s get the ball rolling. While downing some more SOTE in front of Victarion: “Shade-of-the-evening, the wine of the warlocks. I came upon a cask of it when I captured a certain galleas out of Qarth, along with some cloves and nutmeg, forty bolts of green silk, and four warlocks who told a curious tale. One presumed to threaten me, so I killed him and fed him to the other three. They refused to eat of their friend’s flesh at first, but when they grew hungry enough they had a change of heart. Men are meat.” -Victarion, AFFC So Euron acquired these fellas outside of Qarth and they told him an interesting story…hmm let’s throw in a random quote from Xaro and see if it sticks anywhere He tells her that she had not been gone a fortnight when Pyat Pree set out from Qarth with three of his fellow warlocks to seek her in Pentos, in order to seek revenge on her for the burning of the House of the Undying. -Pyat Pree Wiki I postulate, nay I insist, that Euron picked up Pyat and his 3 compadres as they left Qarth heading towards Pentos (that’s where Dany intended to go) and spilled the beans to Euron on Dany and her dragons. As far as killing one who threatened him, I think the threat was a little more nuanced than stated which we will explore in a later section. Mind you, Dany leaves Qarth near the end (91% on kindle) of ACOK and Euron shows up the day after Balon dies, late middle (56% on kindle) ASOS; the next book. I generally think of each book being about one year so in maybe 7-9 months Euron sailed from Qarth to the Iron Islands, best guess based on maps is about 11,000 NM. Based on average speeds of Mediterranean dromons at 2.2 knots (although the max speed was 8-10 knots, most nights are spent just trying to stay in the same place) that’s 208 traveling days with no fewer than the stops in Astapor, Volantis, Lys and one in Westeros (Oldtown), along with sailing through the Smoking Sea each adding 10 days that’s 258 or 8.5 months. That’s not super speed, but that is moving at a good click seeing as he had to sail around Westeros. More evidence on this in the Timeline section. This does put in to doubt the theory of Euron hiring a faceless man (FM) to kill Balon because he would have had to sail from Qarth to Lys then turn North all the way to Braavos, back down to Dorne then once again around Westeros. Best guess is an additional 4,500 NM or 85 sailing days plus at least 20-30 for stops = 105-115 days; Not impossible, but he would have had to trim an unrealistic amount of time. Side note, not really a theory, but as it was a storm that “blew” Balon off the bridge, it would be a cool twist if that storm was derived by the Warlocks, i.e. still Euron’s doing. Similar to the Alchemist’s Guild, upon the birth of Dany’s dragons, the Warlocks power has mightily grown.

And so it was, then. But now? I am less certain. It is said that the glass candles are burning in the house of Urrathon Night-Walker that have not burned in a hundred years. Ghost grass grows in the Garden of Gehane, phantom tortoises have been seen carrying messages between windowless houses on Warlock’s Way, and all the rats in the city are chewing off their tails. The wife of Mathos Mallarawan, who once mocked a warlock’s drab moth-eaten robe, has gone mad and will wear no clothes at all. Even fresh-washed silks make her feel as though a thousand insects were crawling on her skin. And Blind Sybassion the Eater of Eyes can see again, or so his slaves do swear. A man must wonder … These are strange times in Qarth. -Xaro Xhoan Daxos I think a huge overlooked question is how the hell did Euron capture four and kill one powerful Warlock. Pure speculation, but this could have been something he learned with Archmaester Marwyn in Asshai which will be discussed later. Either way, Euron is in control of three Warlocks with growing magical power. Eggs It was only mentioned once, but Victarion does directly recall Euron telling him about having a dragon egg. The Crow's Eye sipped from his silver cup. "I once held a dragon's egg in this hand, brother. This Myrish wizard swore he could hatch it if I gave him a year and all the gold that he required. When I grew bored with his excuses, I slew him. As he watched his entrails sliding through his fingers he said, 'But it has not been a year.'" He laughed. "Cragorn's died, you know." "Who?" "The man who blew my dragon horn. When the maester cut him open, his lungs were charred as black as soot." Victarion shuddered. "Show me this dragon's egg." "I threw it in the sea during one of my dark moods." Euron gave a shrug. -The Reaver, AFFC This quote has been used pretty often for the “Euron hired the FM to kill Balon” theory, stating that Euron deflected the fact he used the egg to buy Balon’s death from the FM by lying about tossing it overboard. I don’t doubt that Euron lies all the time, but I have a huge problem with this theory and just about any “Euron hired FM to kill Balon” theories…It honestly doesn’t make any fucking sense. The whole purpose of hiring the FM to assassinate someone is to make it completely anonymous and either look natural/accident or in the case of Pate, like it never happened, which is why it is so expensive (I’ve sometimes gotten the sense that the client must actually sacrifice their own life to make the deal). Well by showing up the next day and claiming the Seastone Chair, Euron basically broadcasts to the world he was involved in Balon’s death making the whole point of hiring the FM mute. I don’t think he mistakenly overlooked the implication of showing up the day after Balon’s death. You could argue that this was the point, to heavily hint his involvement and dare for a challenger, in order to show his iron strength, i.e. he drowned Lord Sawane Botley in a cask of seawater when he denied Euron’s claim. I find this much more likely knowing Euron likes to play mind games, but it makes hiring the FM even more unnecessary. If Euron wanted to be implicated on purpose then he could have easily hired someone much cheaper or do it more directly. Needless to say, I don’t think Euron bought Balon’s death with his dragon egg, I hope he used the Warlocks to create a storm to kill Balon. Regardless, where did he get the egg? Well he’s been to Asshai. Dragon’s eggs, from the Shadow Lands beyond Asshai,' said Magister Illyrio. 'The eons have turned them to stone, yet still they burn bright with beauty.' -Illyrio Although unclear as to how, this is likely the most common explanation, but for the sake of ‘fuck it again’ let’s get a little tinfoil on this beotch.

How could he get something so priceless? This is where a lot of speculation comes into play. Who else is from Westeros, has been to Asshai and innately interested into the magical…? Señor Archmaester Marwyn that’s who. And how did Señor Archmaester Marwyn obtain a dragon egg you ask? Well: The world the Citadel is building has no place in it for sorcery or prophecy or glass candles, much less for dragons. Ask yourself why Aemon Targaryen was allowed to waste his life upon the Wall, when by rights he should have been raised to archmaester. His blood was why. He could not be trusted. No more than I can.” -Samwell V, AFFC At first I took this very strongly that Marwyn studied under Aemon and based a good portion of this theory on it, but since starting the timeline section, I’ve found that impossible. Aemon left the Citadel in 233AC which would make Marwyn 75-80 years old at the very youngest. His description gives me the impression he is closer to about 45-50. Well, thus far in the whole series there’ve been only two other people to have forged a Valyrian steel chain other than Aemon and Marwyn. One of them is Maester Luwin but he left the Citadel fairly early and has always served as a house Maester. The other is no Maester at all…Qyburn mother fucker! And this sociopath stayed at the Citadel up until he was excommunicated or whatever the hell they do to kick you out. According to both Marwyn and Qyburn’s wikis, they both refer to the bulk of the Citadel as the “grey sheep”. In addition, Qyburn showed nothing but contempt for all of the Maesters except for the one he respected, that being Archmaester Marwyn. As Qyburn is about 85 in the books, he probably did study under Aemon. I’m guessing Qyburn didn’t get into the study of death (by experimenting on the ill) until much later in life. As with all Maesters, he would have had to work as a house Maester after finishing at the Citadel. I’m extremely interested in where that could have been (DORNE OH GOD PLEASE BE DORNE!!!!). Let’s say he spent 2030 years in this role before going back to the Citadel. In addition to his experiments, he would have taught at the Citadel. Being one of the only Maesters with a Valyrian link, would have been one of the only teachers of magic. i.e. Marwyn’s teacher (and Luwin’s too if that was one of Luwin’s last links). In short, Aemon was a genius and taught another likeminded genius, Qyburn, until he left in 233AC while Qyburn was at the age of 18-22 (born in “215AC or before”). Qyburn then taught another likeminded genius in Marwyn probably around 260AC-265AC. It’s obvious that Marwyn respected Aemon where that respect does not extend to the other Archmaesters he calls grey sheep. The previous quote also shows that it would be dangerous for Aemon to dab further into mystical knowledge including that on dragons. Along with his name, he probably would have had to give up his ties to Targ identity which would have been difficult. Oh, btw, one of those ties to Targ identity is a dragon egg… "No, but there are eggs. The last dragon left a clutch of five, and they have more on Dragonstone, old ones from before the Dance. My brothers all have them too -Aegon Targ, Mystery Knight Guess what, Aegon Targ is “Egg”, whom Aemon so affectionately dreams about on the journey with Sam, and is Aemon’s brother. Soooo…Aemon had a dragon egg, it became dangerous to remain associated with dragons and Targs, so he gave his egg to someone who would appreciate it more than its financial value, his student in the field of mystical shit, Qyburn who also gets in trouble and likely has to take action to protect the egg and possibly gives it to Marwyn. I understand this is super speculative, but this is also a crackpot theory. It is explicitly stated that when Aemon was young, he had a dragon egg. So would have only had three options once sent to the wall (by Aegon). 1. Keep it – very unlikely as he went to the wall with Bloodraven whom Aemon and Aegon were both very wary of 2. Gave it to Aegon – Probably the most likely case as it would be sent to Dragonstone

3. Gave it to someone he trusted at the Citadel – Not as likely, but if he knew it would have been difficult to take it with him from the Citadel he may not have had a choice, and Qyburn is the only person there who would have shared in the studies of magic If Qyburn did receive it, upon getting kicked out of the Citadel it is extremely likely he would have had to forfeit his possessions; so he’d give something like the egg to someone he trusted. We will explore the egg going from Marwyn to Euron in a later section and their relationship.

Blue? ... REPLACE VISERION?!?!?! For reference let’s go over the colors of known living dragons. Drogon, Black with deep red horns spinal scales and eyes. Rhaegal, Green/Jade and some bronze. Viserion, Cream with gold wings and spine. Okay Patchface, your turn: One thing I truly, truly believe in, is Patchface’s words are canon. His near death is even more prophetic than Aerion Greyjoy’s near drowning. It could be argued that Aerion was saved by the Drowned God, but Patchface was saved by the Drowned God from the Storm God specifically. If you remember, the Storm Lord and Lady died on their way back from Myr in sight of Storm’s End by a massive Storm. The only survivor was Patchface washing up on shore, but at the cost of a mental disability. I believe that mental disability is how his gift of prophecy is unveiled to the world. “Under the sea, smoke rises in bubbles, and flames burn green and blue and black,” Patchface sang somewhere. “I know, I know, oh, oh, oh.” -Patchface There are a million ways to interpret this. “Smoke rises in bubbles” is pretty well regarded as the Smoking Sea of Valyria. “Flames burn green and blue and black” on the other hand, has been up to much debate. The two most common interpretations are 1) the obsidian candles coming back to life and 2) Dany’s dragons. 1) This seems a strong argument as we know obsidian has been found in a few colors and Sam’s description is akin to a powerful flame. My argument against this is that obsidian has been found to be black, green, purple and reddish, but never blue. Doesn’t negate this theory but pulls me elsewhere. 2) Dany’s Dragons. Flames = Dragons. Weaker but still a common thought. In this instance, the color argument is more grounded as hers are black, green and cream and there are no other living dragons Once again, your ability to think ahead is uncanny, yes I am going there. Euron did throw his dragon egg overboard but I think it was much more deliberate than he made it sound. I think he threw his egg in the Smoking Sea to be born amidst saltwater under a red star (Euron’s ship happens to be…red). I am not arguing that Euron is Azor Ahai, but I am damn well saying he thinks he is as he certainly knows the prophecy. As Dany’s dragons were born with blood magic and extreme heat, I believe the volcanic vents of the Smoking Sea will provide the extreme heat. This very well could have been where Euron kills Pyat Pree as well which would provide the blood magic. As this dragon is born in the sea, I postulate that this bad boy will be a Nagga reborn and fill the hole of a blue dragon in Patchface’s prophecy. Replacing Viserion is pretty speculative but has some merits. 1. The visions of three dragons, three headed dragons, three, three, three. So there can only be three dragons, i.e. one has to go. 2. Viserion is the least dangerous of Dany’s 3 dragons as noted by Barriston. Ser Barristan Selmy notes that thus far Rhaegal has shown himself to be more dangerous than his brother Viserion. -Barriston IV, ADWD

Also **TWOW spoiler, zoom to see: 3. Viserion is cream colored and doesn’t fit into Patchface’s prophecy while if this sea dragon is blue, it does. 4. Viserion is named after Viserys who was kind of a bitch Tyrion notes in the battle for Mereen that Viserion is the first to leave the battlefield while Rhaegal is still wrecking shit

Best Fucking Friends Forever This is probably my absolute favorite string to this theory. That Marwyn and Euron have been in cahoots for a very long while. Marwyn spent eight years in the east mapping distant lands, searching for lost books, and studying with warlocks and shadowbinders. He was nicknamed 'Marwyn the Mage' by Archmaester Vaellyn after his return.[3] -Marywn Wiki People say that Marwyn keeps the company of whores and hedge wizards, talks with hairy Ibbenese and pitch-black Summer Islanders in their own tongues, and sacrifices to queer gods at the little sailor’s temples down by Oldtown’s wharves -Marywn Wiki According to the wiki, the Greyjoy rebellion was 289 AC. Shortly after the Greyjoy Rebellion, Euron was exiled for plowing Victarion’s wife. It is common knowledge that he went east. To get there he must have gone around Westeros and likely stopped in Oldtown to get supplies putting him there in 290-291AC. Well if Marwyn arrived back in Oldtown near the beginning of ASOIAF (298-299 AC) and spent 8 years abroad, he must have left in, oh say, 290-291 AC. I think you see what I’m getting at but let’s just have a go at this. Marywn sacrifices to queer gods at the little sailor’s temples. I take this not so much that Marwyn sacrifices to a particular religion held by sailors, but that he diversifies his portfolio by sacrificing to various religions in pseudo experiments. This would have brought him by the Drowned God’s temple a time or two and if Euron happened to also be sacrificing to the Drowned God at the time, well who knows what they’d talk about. Probably whores at first, but if such a conversation commenced, Marwyn would undoubtedly see some potential in a mutual relationship. They’ve both been to Asshai. Let’s review those two passages one more time: Marwyn spent eight years in the east mapping distant lands, searching for lost books, and studying with warlocks and shadowbinders. He was nicknamed 'Marwyn the Mage' by Archmaester Vaellyn after his return.[3] -Marywn Wiki Marwyn was in the east mapping distant lands like IDK Ib and Asshai are both in the East and about as far distant as you can get. We also know from Mirra Maz Durr he was definitely in Asshai (On a side note, it is possible MMD was an agent for Marwyn). I went in caravan to Asshai…and a maester from the Sunset Lands opened a body for me and showed me all the secrets that hide beneath the skin. “Marwyn, he named himself,” the woman replied in the Common Tongue. -Dany VII, AGoT Okay that is pretty weak I admit to connect Euron and Marwyn, but there’s more: People say that Marwyn keeps the company of whores and hedge wizards, talks with hairy Ibbenese and pitch-black Summer Islanders in their own tongues, and sacrifices to queer gods at the little sailor’s temples down by Oldtown’s wharves -Marywn Wiki If you notice a few different items are bolded in this go around…Now on to Euron.

On her decks a motley crew of mutes and mongrels spoke no word as the Iron Victory drew nigh. Men black as tar stared out at him, and others squat and hairy as the apes of Sothoros. Monsters, Victarion thought. -The Iron Captain, AFFC Godless? Why, Aeron, I am the godliest man ever to raise sail! You serve one god, Damphair, but I have served ten thousand. From Ib to Asshai, when men see my sails, they pray -The Iron Captain, AFFC “Hairy Ibbanese” = “others squat and hairy as apes” (Euron also mentions he’s been to Ib) “Pitch-black Summer Islanders” = “Men black as tar” Obviously this is still speculation, but come on, way too much coincidence. They were both gone the same amount of time, went to Asshai, have relationships with Ibbanese and Summer Islanders. It doesn’t hurt that they each have a roguish personality. Marywn went with Euron around the world, my guess, from Oldtown to Summer Isles, to, then around eastern Essos to Asshai and finally split ways at the birth of Dany’s dragons with Marwyn racing back and Euron taking his time until he picked up the Warlocks by dumb luck. Now back to the question of how Euron tamed the warlocks he caught. Marwyn spent eight years in the east mapping distant lands, searching for lost books, and studying with warlocks and shadowbinders. He was nicknamed 'Marwyn the Mage' by Archmaester Vaellyn after his return.[3] -Marywn Wiki Back to the original quote of the section shows Marwyn studied with warlocks and likely learned the ins and outs of their abilities and gained some knowledge on their weaknesses. As Euron was with Marwyn this whole time, he definitely shared in this knowledge. I also believe Euron’s eye allows him to communicate with Marwyn through his obsidian candle. More support for this timeline is that there is evidence Euron was right with Dany when she was in Astapor buying the Unsullied: The slaver shrugged. “Tell her to consider quickly. There are many other buyers. Only three days past I showed these same Unsullied to a corsair king who hopes to buy them all.” “The corsair wanted only a hundred, your worship,” Dany heard the slave girl say. He poked her with the end of the whip. “Corsairs are all liars. He’ll buy them all. Tell her that, girl.” -Kraznak Mo (whatever, the unsullied slaver in Astapor), ASOS If the Pyat Pree and his three buddies left Qarth a day or two after Dany before being snagged by Euron, that would put Euron a day or two behind her as well from Qarth. Upon hearing their story and believing she was heading to Pentos, he would race there, possibly passing her. Needing some strength, he would likely stop in Astapor to get a small contingent of Unsullied, 100 or so. As far as I’ve seen Euron is the only character to be referred to as a corsair and likely already had the plan in place to kill Balon so wouldn’t be crazy to refer to himself as a king. From here it is difficult to say why he didn’t follow Dany into Slaver’s Bay as there is no way news of her sack of Astapor would not have reached him. He either 1. Didn’t put it together that the sack was her doing 2. Felt the need to return to Westeros outweighed chasing her 3. Saw the carnage and decided to wait til he could have his own dragon

I think (2) is the most likely for a few reasons. If this is correct thus far, Marwyn left Euron in Asshai to race back home to Oldtown (probably to brush up on as much dragon lore as he could). He left knowing few details and the wealth of knowledge Euron would have gotten from Pyat Pree and co. along with what he could attain from Astapor would need to be told to Marwyn ASAP. I think Euron also wanted to get back to kill his bro and get the crown as Westeros and the Iron Isles were both weakened and spread thin.

Summary and Timeline of Events This section will connect actual and theorized events to build a timeline for the theory. Anything underlined is true and not theory. 217AC: Aemon becomes Maester at 19 years old, serves on Dragonstone to his brother, Prince Daeron. Learns a shit ton on dragon lore. 220AC: Daeron dies and Aemon returns to the Citadel to study/teach Roughly 220AC-233AC: 1. Qyburn studies under Maester Aemon and earns both a Valyrian Steel link and mutual trust/respect with Aemon. 2. Although Aegon “Egg” Targ is the 4th son of a 4th son, everyone before him either dies, goes insane or not worth the kingship (Aerion Brightflame has an rtard daughter and a bastard before dying). 3. Great Council of 233AC offers thrown to Aemon who turns it down and recommends Aemon. (I recommend rereading Varys’ convo with Kevin Lannister describing Aegon “Young Griff”. He describes Aegon “Egg” to a T). 4. Fearing he may be used in a plot to usurp his brother (the Citadel wanted Aemon to rule) he and Aegon agreed he should go to the wall. He travelled with the newly released from the black dungeon, Bloodraven in 233AC 5. Before leaving the Citadel, Aemon entrusts Qyburn with his dragon egg Roughly 260AC-270AC 1. Qyburn returns to the Citadel after serving as a house master 2. Qyburn teaches and builds a mutual relationship with Marwyn (prob taught Luwin too) 3. Qyburn is kicked out of the Citadel and loses his chains 4. Fearing the Citadel would take the dragon egg, he gives it to Marwyn 289AC-291AC 1. Greyjoy rebellion 2. Euron is exiled for banging Vicci’s salt wife 3. Euron only has one direction to travel and the most likely resupply point is Oldtown. 4. Euron runs into Marwyn at either a Drowned God temple or whore house. Marwyn wants to explore and sees promise in Euron so they strike a deal to explore, pirate and fuck mad bitches together 291AC-299AC 1. Euron and Marwyn pirate around the Summer Islands, Stepstones, up the narrow sea and make it all the way to Ibben (Sea Map Below). Following the north coast of Essos east, they travel around the continent and reach Asshai from east 2. They spend an extended time there learning about mystical shit, Euron gets his eye and Marwyn teaches Mirra Maz Durp. 3. They see the red comet after Dany gives birth to the dragons, they may or may not know about the dragons but they know something insane just happened. 4. Marywn needs to get to the Citadel ASAP to figure out his next move. Recognizing that magic has returned, Marwyn tells Euron to do some kinda spell shit and drop the egg in the Smoking Sea of Old Valyria. 5. They go their separate ways, Marwyn taking about a year to get back from Asshai and Euron taking a more northern route passing Qarth. 300AC-Present

1. Euron sees an easy target passing Qarth and pirates the shit out of it because that’s what he does. Finds 4 warlocks, one of which is Pyat Pree. 2. Pyat spills the beans on Dany, her dragons and the destruction of the HOTU. 3. Euron in haste to complete his task from Marwyn passes Dany unknowingly. Prior to entering the Smoking Sea, decides he needs some Unsullied and gets there three days before Dany. 4. Dany fucks everything up in Astapor and Euron’s like OMG, let’s make like a banana and get da fuck out. 5. Euron sails into the Smoking Sea, performs some kind of blood magic on Pyat Pree, throws the egg overboard, makes the other Warlocks eat Pyat and has a nice glass of OJ to ward off scurvy. 6. Takes his time going through the Smoking Sea and finds Dragonbinder, the dragon horn 7. Resupplies in Volantis, takes another ship near Lys where he picks up the “Dusky Woman” and proceeds to bang her out and cut out her tongue. (I think there is more than meets the eye here, may be working with her to spy or influence Victareon). 8. Euron gets to Oldtown where he tells Marwyn about Pyat’s story, Astapor and Smoking Sea. 9. Euron continues on to the Iron Isles. Forces the Warlocks to send a sudden gust of wind at Balon while on his tower bridge knocking him off. 10. Euron arrives and wins the Kingsmoot like a boss 11. Marwyn uses the obsidian candles and sees Sam and Aemon’s journey. Sends Quhuru Mo on the Cinnamon Wind to rendezvous in Braavos. 12. Euron sends Victareon on his goose chase 13. After meeting Sam, Marwyn and Quhuru take the still loaded Cinnamon Wind and head to Dany with Aemon’s body, Gilly and Mace’s Son

1. 290AC: Euron leaves and picks up Marwyn in Oldtown. They go gallivanting up to Ibben, around the world to Asshai in about 7 years. 2. 299AC: a. In Asshai, they learn something prophetic happened so Marwyn books it back to Oldtown in 1 year b. Euron goes to Qarth, Astapor, through Smoking Sea, Volantis, Lys, Oldtown and home in 2.5 years
