Create Clothing Mani kin/Doll In Blender

This tutorial is to guide you thru the process of creating a clothing mani kin/doll with in Blender. This tutorial is based on these pr evious wor ks and modified for the current version of Blender 2.69 1. “MAK ING A DOLL FOR HEXAGON by Sanbie” 2. “Create a Poser clothi ng rig in Blender 2.49 3dOutlaw” 3. “ Infa mous T59 Hexa gon Clothing Wor ks hop tutorial” I will be wor king using Poser 2012 but most of the steps are bac kward compatible with pre vious versions of Poser and the steps should also wor k with Da z Studio as to how to e xport your c haracter. Open up Poser a nd Load your preferred char acter

Blender is a powerful modeling progra m a nd over the last couple of years a nd has made great advance me nts in usability and UI enhancements to ma ke it more user friendly. Granted it is still intimidating when you first start it up but once you develop your own wor kflow and become fa miliar with the tools and e ven customi ze it your wa y I think you will like myself wonder how you li ved without it. The Default start up scene or scree n of Blender can be a bit intimating s o let me j ust go over s ome of the basic re gions so you will be able to further follow along with the rest of this tutorial.

Blender Na vi gation One of the obstacles most new users encount er when first exploring Blender is navi gation especially when coming from other applications. I will not go into too much detail on na vi gat ion as that would be more for a be ginner’s tutorial which would ma ke this one longer t han need be but I will cover a few things you will need to know to be able to accompli sh this tutorial. I hi ghl y rec ommend a nd encourage that you watch the Blender Bas ics – Introduction for beginners at Blender Cookie there are 6 lessons in the series that will gi ve you a good basis of how to do t hings with in Blender. Your Number pad is your friend whe n it comes to na vi gation in Ble nder become fa miliar with it since you will be using the Numb-pad often

The Numb-pa d ke ys ar e not to be c onfused with the number ke ys above on your ke yboard the y do not perfor m the sa me func tions as the Numb-pad ke ys. I will be referring to these ke ys as we proceed thru the tutorial. Also as a note as you see the “5” ke y is your Perspe ctive and Orthope dic views creating our Doll we will pri marily be wor king in Front Orthopedic view.

Other ke ys that I will be using thru the tutorial is the “Delete” & “ Tab” ke y which will get you from obj ect mode to edit mode more easil y. Keyboard shortcuts in Blender will speed you thru your wor kflow process I will add a list of the most common ke yboard shortcuts at the end of thi s tutorial that you can print out and ha ve by your des k when modeling in Blender. OK lets go i mport our poser exported obj into Blender
