OLSM Conquers Cuyahoga Curves
D
espite the curvy river bends and occasional freighter vying for space on the river during Friday’s practice, nothing was going to stop the St. Mary’s crew from putting toughness to the test at the Head of the Cuyahoga in Cleveland, Ohio, September 17. At the end of the day, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s took home two gold medals and one bronze, and challenged their personal bests in three additional events – Men’s Jr. 1x (8th), Men’s Jr. 2x (7th), and Men’s Jr. Novice 8+ (6th & 7th).. “Our crew continues to work on technical mastery, and the fitness and mental demands of the sport,” said Chris Czarnecki, head coach and novice coach, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Crew. On Saturday, September 24, OLSM heads to Toledo for the Frogtown Regatta before hosting Cranbrook, Northville, Ann Arbor Pioneer, Ann Arbor Skyline, Saline, and St. Ignatius (Cleveland) high schools on Orchard Lake October 1 at the Head of the Orchard/Round the Apple from 8 AM–1 PM. All are welcome and encouraged to attend this co-ed show of force
