Lempe Scott Thursday, October 03, 2013 1:02 PM All Users Crosspointe/ESD Communication Update # 4
Good Morning Everyone, It has been a while since my last update to you on our efforts to fully implement the new ESD Student Information System (SIS). In that time we’ve made great progress. I want to take a minute to share just a few highlights and to bring you up to date on our plans for the next several months. Recall in my last communication I shared that, in response to your feedback, we had delayed any “go‐live” until after the start of school. Over the summer we’ve had time to refine our plan and make progress relative to much of the remaining development. Today we are hard at work resolving just a small number of issues that we’ve deemed “imperative for go‐live.” We anticipate those issues being resolved within the next 4‐6 weeks. The Way Forward. Rather than trying to implement a new SIS District‐wide we’ve identified four schools that have agreed to act as our pilot schools. They are: Tuttle, Brookside, North Port High, and Pine View. We are referring to them as the Fab‐Four! As of today we plan to go live at those schools in mid‐November. We will use these pilot schools to test the system in a live environment, shake down the system, work out any bugs, and prepare the SIS for full District‐ wide implementation. Given this timeline we’d then look to go‐live with the rest of our schools in late winter or early spring. In the mean time we will be developing things like refresher trainings and comprehensive data verification plans. Things to know. There are a few things users should keep in mind. They are: 1) Scheduling for the 14/15 school year will be done in the ESD SIS; 2) Refresher training will of course be available for school staff prior to go live. Obviously that training will happen first in the fab‐four schools beginning in the next month or so; 3) All K‐5 report cards for the first semester of this year will be printed from ESD. We will be piloting the new middle and high school report cards with the fab‐four schools. I’m sure there are other topics we could discuss but these are the ones we felt were key. As always, if you have any specific questions please don’t hesitate to ask. We’ll answer those we can and research those we can’t. I also want to thank all the users who continue to work with the new system and participate in our planning and develop process. With your help we’ve made great progress and I’m excited about the next several months. Hang in there— there is light at the end of this tunnel! Scott Scott J. Lempe Chief Operating Officer
