Adaptations of the Weta Ever wanted to know about the weta? Well, the following paragraphs are for you. They will be explaining about the wetas habitat, its diet and that how it's nocturnal. To begin with we need to start with where the weta lives. Weta live in Numerous Habitats. A Habitat is a place where animals can live. The most expected weta you will find in Auckland will be the tree weta because there are more trees than burrows or caves. But different weta live in different places, such as a giant weta lives in trees the ground weta lives in burrows and the cave weta as you can guess lives in caves. For this reason, their diet is varied. Weta are omnivores. An omnivore is an animal that can eat both meat and plants. Except for about 5% of weta are Carnivores which means that they only eat meat. Some of the wetas diet includes leaves, lichen, seed heads, fruit, flowers, small invertebrates, worms, and snails. With this in mind, a lot of their diet is nocturnal. Weta are nocturnal. Nocturnal means awake during the night and asleep during the day. They are nocturnal because there are far fewer predators ( e.g.. Humans cats dogs etc. ) And it means more food because fewer predators are eating the food that wetas need. So, in conclusion, these are 3 of some of the main points covered on the weta.
