with teachers in schools has inspired her to research how children’s language learning can be supported through stories, visual arts and puppetry. Mary is co-author of English for Primary Teachers and author of Vocabulary Activities and Teaching with Bear - all published by Oxford University Press.

Mary Slattery Mary Slattery is a teacher trainer and

writer. For the past 20 years she has worked on teacher development programmes in university and on inservice courses around the world.

the 6 years since “English for Primary Teachers” was published Mary has been mainly asked to give presentations/workshops to primary teachers e.g. teaching 4-11 year olds, or those involved in teacher training. The presentations have always involved an emphasis on the teacher’s use of language, methodology, resources and activities.

 

講座簡介:  Connecting creatively with children’s development  Children’s development is the basis for the decisions that we make in the classroom. General  changes that we see at each stage of development can be useful to us when planning  activities. In this session I would like to look at:  z how teachers can connect creatively in their language lessons.  z the central role that a puppet can have in language lessons.  z some practical ideas on how to use puppets to support listening, speaking, reading  and writing in English.  z how to use a puppet to connect with other areas of the curriculum in English lessons.  z You will also have the opportunity to participate and to share your own ideas.
