DÍA DE LOS NIÑOS / LIBROS
Let’s celebrate
Día is an enhancement of Children’s Day, began in 1925. Children’s Day was designated as a day to bring attention to the importance and wellbeing of children. In 1996, author Pat Mora linked the celebration of children with literacy to found El día de los niños/El día de los libros. The Celebration culminates at the end of April! Around the country, a special celebration of linking children to books, home languages and cultures is held at schools, libraries, museums, churches, parks, and bookstores. Día is a year-round commitment to connecting children with diverse books and programming opportunities, and provides a wonderful opportunity for parents to promote the power of books and reading to their own children.
Let the reading celebration begin at your library®!
