The Georgian Prime Minister visited the nut processing plant in Khobi, Samegrelo region. The nut processing plant was established by Georgian Products Renaissance Ltd in 2013. Georgia made $300 000 US dollars’ worth of investment in it. Within the project launched by the Agriculture Project Management Agency to co-finance agriculture product processing enterprises, the plant received additional funds in the amount of $782 000 USD that went towards advanced roasting and packaging machines, production equipment and raw materials. The plant processes the raw material into the following nut products: whole nuts, both roasted and blanched, and an innovative nut solution: roasted in-shell salted nuts.

The first university clinic for 185 patients, with a modern laboratory and radiological diagnostics and hi-tech medical examination equipment, opened in Tbilisi. The opening ceremony was attended by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili who, together with other Cabinet members, made a tour of the facility. “This is the first university clinic in Georgia. This project was implemented jointly by our government and the Medical University. Twenty million has already been invested. The project will cost 25 million in all. We have allocated the remaining five million from the state funds. The clinic will employ 600 people, which is very important, because students and residents will be able to enrich theoretical knowledge with practice,” Irakli Garibashvili told reporters. The Prime Minister thanked everyone who has participated in the implementation of the project.

Georgia’s investment environment, current reforms, the issues that promoted deepening the economic relations between Georgia and Turkey and implementation of important investment projects were issues of the meeting with the Turkish businessmen. Within the framework of the State Program – Produce in Georgia, modern high-technology greenhouse has been built in Kapanakhchi village, Gardabani. The project has been implemented by Georgia’s Co-Investment Fund and RICHEL GROUP, the leading French greenhouse company. Giorgi Bachiashvili, the Executive director of the Georgian Co-investment Fund got journalists familiar with the greenhouse. The greenhouse, built on 4.4 ha territory, employs 108 people, mainly locals. Together with Georgian agronomists, French and Ukrainian agro-engineers, biologists and technologists are working in the greenhouse. The latest types of modern machinery and seed crops to be used in the greenhouse are being imported from Holland and France. “The amount of greenhouse will be tripled by September, which means that millions of GEL will be added to country’s budget. Within 6 months, greenhouse was built on 44 000 sq.m territory and more than 10mln investments were implemented that exceeds investment responsibilities. In this way, the first stage of construction has been completed. “This is the highest greenhouse in Georgia and the second construction in the Caucasus region built by RICHEL GROUP in Georgia. The higher the greenhouse is, the easier is to control climate and dampness. This is an energy efficient automated greenhouse,” said Georgia’s Greenhouse Corporation director Dimitri Kolensikov. The second stage will start in April 2015 and end in September 2015. The project implies construction of 85 000 sq.m greenhouse and attracting additional 20mln GEL investments. After completion, the joint investment cost will amount to 45mln USD. As Georgia’s Greenhouse Corporation supposes, within the framework of the first stage of the program, 900 tone productions will be grown and after the second stage this number will exceed 4,000 tones. The new greenhouse’s production will be sold on local market and later will be exported as well.

The company’s representative claimed in a conversation with the media that an old machine-building plant located in the city of Kutaisi was bought by the company, renovated and prepared for setting up the industrial zone. As per 2014 data, “Hualng Group” is Georgia’s largest investor. Hualing is building the Olympic Village in the Tbilisi sea area. A free industrial zone has been already functioning in Kutaisi and is operated by the Egyptian “Fresh”. The Free Industrial Zone opereated by the Arabic company is functioning on the territory of Poti. Entrepreneurs are interested in FIZ for the following reasons: there is no income tax or it is insignificant; maximally simplified procedure of registration of the firm; there are no restrictions on the import andexport of currency; procedure of the firm’s management are simplified. Azerbaijani SOCAR plans to build an industrial zone in Kulevi. The government wants to create an industrial zone in Khelvachauri region, but has failed to interest investors in this project. Development of free industrial zones in Georgia was launched under the previous government in 2008.

The company’s representative states “Commersant” that the project is suspended at this stage but hopes that the City Hall will decide to renew the project and the company will move to the next level after the project’s design is developed. At the same time, Robin Monotti representative says that the Tbilisi government has not yet approved the project. Robin Monotti is a company based in London. The company has carried out numerous projects around the world. Business center project in Tbilisi was designed in 2013. According to the project, the building’s design will be combined with ”Bank of Georgia” head office, a 16-storey business center will be made of glass and will have the ability to reflect 30% of the sun’s energy. According to the architectural plan, a resting zone will be arranged on each floor.
