DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP AGREEMENT AND DEVICE REGISTRATION At CSC we want our students to achieve to the best of their abilities. We believe the use of devices in the classroom will assist students in reaching this goal. The policies below are in place to ensure that use of all school and personal devices is both safe for our staff and students and be effective for their education. 1.

Use of electronic devices is actively encouraged at CSC as these can enhance and enrich learning opportunities for students. The use of these devices in the classroom will be at the discretion of the teacher and students must have permission from the teacher to use their device.

All internet access at CSC is through the Wi-Fi network supplied by the school. The username and password for access at school MUST be kept private at all times.

3.

Access to the network through a device is a privilege for students at CSC. It is not a right. Access will be taken away if inappropriate usage is discovered. Inappropriate usage includes, but is not limited to; a. b. c. d.

Use of social networking that negatively affects another student/s. Accessing inappropriate or illegal websites. Accessing servers or staff only areas of the network. Downloading large amounts of data for personal use.

4.

All devices on site at CSC are subject to monitoring, checking and audit by authorised staff at any time. Any inappropriate usage or information found will be dealt with according to the existing discipline procedures at CSC.

5.

Any personal device brought into the school will be the responsibility of the student. The school and its staff will not be responsible for any loss, theft or damage to the device.

6.

The school is not responsible for any maintenance of the device.

7.

Charging of devices is expected to be done at home where possible.

8.

The policies in this document apply to devices being used on-site and off-site for school events such as a sports trips, camps etc.

9.

All devices should be named by First Name, Last Name, Device type – e.g. John Brown’s HP Laptop

10. Before being given access to the network, the student and a parent/caregiver must sign this form and provide the information requested overleaf.

Your device has a MAC / Wi-Fi address that makes it unique from any other device. This will be the number that identifies and registers your device on the CSC public Wi-Fi network. It is a 12 digit number in a unique combination of letters and numbers in 6 pairs. Without it, or if it is altered, your device will no longer be able to access the network. Please print this information carefully. If your device is not registered correctly it will not work on the network. (Information on how to find the MAC address and Serial number for your device is available on the internet)
