APPLICATIONS ARE DUE

Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Return your completed application to Del Norte High School Counseling Office where you will sign a Receipt Record to verify your timely submission of your application. PLEASE NOTE: This application will make you a candidate for scholarships under the Del Norte Scholarship Foundation.  Do not staple application packet.

Criteria for judging applications are the following:

Academic Readiness Dedication to Goals

Contribution to school and community Grade Point Average (GPA): 2.0 weighted Total GPA minimum required

APPLICATION: Applications should be neat and complete. PLEASE TYPE OR PRINT SO THAT LEGIBLE COPIES CAN BE MADE. Give all information requested. Applications are limited to five pages. Additional sheets

will not be accepted.

RECOMMENDATION FORMS: One “Recommendation Form” must be from a person from your life outside of school. It may be from a community member, an employer, a minister/pastor, etc. The second recommendation must be from a current or past school staff member. BE CONSIDERATE AND GIVE THEM ENOUGH TIME TO COMPLETE IT. Give each community person a stamped envelope addressed to: Counseling Office Del Norte High School 1301 El Dorado Street Crescent City, CA 95531 TRANSCRIPT: DNHS School students do not need to get a copy of their transcripts; it will be provided by DNHS Counseling Office. ALL OTHER STUDENTS MUST ATTACH AN OFFICIAL COPY OF THEIR TRANSCRIPT WITH CUMULATIVE GRADE POINT AVERAGE.

STUDENT ESSAY: The readers of the application are interested in your major goals and achievements. You should discuss these in your essay as well as what is important to you and the reasons why. Include what your academic or vocational interest is and why you chose it, along with your present educational or career objective. Please also write about the most important life experience that has influenced your intellectual and personal growth. TYPE YOUR ESSAY ON ONE SIDE OF AN 8 ½” BY 11” PIECE OF PAPER. ADDITIONAL SHEETS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. PUT YOUR NAME IN THE TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER OF THE ESSAY.
