UC Dota 2 2017 Tournament Rules 1. Admin 1.1. An admin (administrator) is defined as any CompSoc or UCGG Exec committee member or any elected personnel which may include, but is not limited to; casting crew, support staff and network managers both on the day of the tournament and leading up to the day of the tournament. 1.2. It is expected that all teams follow directions and rulings given by the admins.
2. Behaviour Players and spectators must not: 2.1. Express themselves in an offensive manner about other players or their actions in the game, regardless of whether they are opponents or team-mates. 2.2. Players and spectators must not use language, nicknames or other expressions that insult another player’s gender, gender identity, origin, physical ability, sexual orientation, religion or age. 2.3. Use language or actions that refer to sexual violence or other violence. Act in a threatening or violent manner. The above clauses apply to but not limited to; in game chat, anytime during the tournament and social media pages e.g. Facebook or the website. 2.4. Repercussions: 2.4.1. A person who fails to follow the above classes will result in a 3 strike warning. 2.4.2. After the third warning, said person may be asked to leave the tournament by an admin without a refund of any prior payments.
3. Tournament Structure 3.1. Refer to the tournament structure diagram for both 16 team tournament and 24 team tournament here. 3.2. The Challonge document is to be the final and complete record of results and fixtures. 3.2.1. If the document has been incorrectly adjusted, please contact an admin and get this fixed. 3.3. Teams will be seeded into pools based on their MMR 3.4. All teams will have at least one game in the elimination round based on their performance in the pool rounds. 3.5. In the event of a tie in the pool games for placing in the elimination rounds, the tiebreaker will be a majority decision by the admin members.
4. Game times 4.1. The time presented on the Challonge page is the latest by which the game should start. 4.1.1. If there is a natural issue arising from previous game times meaning that there is an impossibility regarding start times (ie 70 minute game previously), please inform an admin if possible, so they can notify other parties. 4.2. If a team fails to ready up in the appropriate lobby, 15 minutes after the time listed on Challonge, without notifying an admin and providing an appropriate reason, they shall forfeit the game. 4.3. Challonge game times will naturally become more flexible as the day continues, but it is asked that you keep an eye on this page throughout the day for any changes. 4.4. Game Duration 4.4.1. To keep games from running too late, length of games must not exceed 60 minutes for the pool rounds and must not exceed 90 minutes for the elimination round onwards (excluding hero selection).
4.4.2. If a pool game exceeds the 60 minute time limit, then the game will be a draw. 4.4.3. If an Elimination game exceeds the 90 minute time limit, then the winning team will be picked based on the net worth.
5. In-game 5.1. Tags 5.1.1. It is asked that you are tagged up as the names that you entered the tournament as. 5.1.2. Please have your team tagged at the start of your name. 5.1.3. If you are playing as a standin, please tag up as one. 5.2. All chat 5.2.1. Please DO NOT use all chat unless it is an urgent matter, or is a means of forfeiture (ie “gg”) 5.2.2. Once typed by any player in your team, forfeiture is final unless it is immediately retracted as an accident
