A Fun Read By Avid Reader I enjoyed reading this book. Like the title suggests, it discusses money, banking and financial markets. With respect to money it explains M1 and M2 and velocity and the money multiplier. It discusses the banking system as well as how technology has changed it, and it also explains how developments in technology and the application thereof will change the way we bank in the future. It doesn't really get into exteme detail when discussing financial markets. What is left out of the title of the book is monetary policy. Truth be told, the discussion of money and banking is a background to what seems like the real topic of the book monetary policy, how the Fed
and other central banks influence interest rates, money supply, the exchange rate, inflation and economic growth. The second half of the book is all about monetary policy, and it frequently refers to the earlier chapters to explain it. It's still a very, very basic introduction to monetary policy though. One thing that I found interesting was the feature where current events and historical events are discussed in relation to the material, and the events and actions of the central bankers are used to explain the material in the book.
