Mehra, Harvard Medical School, BWH Heart and Vascular Center, Brigham and Women's Hospital Boston MA,Marc Pfeffer, Dzau Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Cardiovascular Division, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, MA Michael Domanski is a Professor of Medicine at University Health Network, Peter Munk Cardiovascular Centre and the University of Toronto. He is also the Director of Heart Failure Research and the Patient Inpatient Heart Failure Program and Chairman of the Cardiovascular Clinical Trials Oversight Committee. Professor Domanski has previously held director positions at Trinity Medical Centre, North Dakota and Washington Adventist Hospital. Mandeep Mehra is Professor of Medicine and Head of Cardiology at University of Maryland School of Medicine. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation. Professor Mehra has previously been affiliated with Louisiana State University and was the Chief of Ochsner Clinic Foundation's Cardiomyopathy and Heart Transplantation Centre. Disappointed By Amazon Customer Was disappointed. Basically a general review of heart failure similar to what you would get in any standard textbook of cardiology or review of the ACC/AHA/HFSA guidelines. Really had expected a more in-depth discussion on the intricacies and unique features of managing these complicated patients with advanced disease. Perhaps utilizing case studies to drive home teaching points and practical "tricks of the trade" from this group of distinguished authors. On a positive note, the transplant and LVAD chapters were good reviews. However, surprised that more attention was not given to the issue acute mechanical circulatory support in cardiogenic shock such as with ECMO. The two chapters on right heart failure were probably the best of the book. In summary, a solid, scientifically sound text that will be helpful for board review but with too little practical, clinically useful information to take to the heart failure clinic tomorrow. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.
