DYSTOPIA ·What does dystopia mean?

Dystopia is a fictitious society mainly characterized by human misery,

as dirtiness, oppression, disease and overcrowding. It is commonly used in films, books, video games…

The word comes from utopia, which means the opposite; a fictitious

perfect society.

Dystopian societies tend to appear in stories set on the future and

they're based on environmental disasters, absolute governments or technology catastrophes (e.g. robots take the world's control)

· An example of dystopia

One of the most famous examples of dystopia is the saga called “The Hunger Games”, which is about a girl that lives in a world where there are

only thirteen cities left; one is the Capitol City were privileged people live

and the other 12 are districts used to provide Capitol City of wells meanwhile

the people living in the districts suffer from starvation and health problem. The country is called Panem and it is a result of a World War.
