AWM E-Communication June 2015 Erica N. Walker named AWM-MAA Falconer Lecturer The Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) and the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) have selected Erica N. Walker to deliver the Etta Z. Falconer Lecture at the MAA MathFest in Washington, DC, August 5 -8, 2015. Daniela De Silva wins the second AWM –Sadosky Research Prize in Analysis The Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) will present the prize to Daniela De Silva, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Barnard College, at the AWM Reception and Awards Presentation at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Seattle, WA in January 2016. Lauren Williams wins the second AWM –Microsoft Research Prize in Algebra and Number Theory The Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) will present the prize to Lauren Williams, Associate Professor of Mathematics, University of California Berkeley, at the AWM Reception and Awards Presentation at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Seattle, WA in January 2016. AWM at MathFest 2015: In addition to the Falconer Lecture, AWM is sponsoring a contributed paper session The Contributions of Women to Mathematics: 100 Years and Counting , a poster session Highlights from AWM Student Chapters and AWM will have a booth in the exhibit hall. On October 24-25, 2015, the Department of Mathematics at Northwestern University will host a conference for undergraduate women who may be interested in pursuing graduate study in the mathematical sciences (pure and applied mathematics, and also mathematical physics, statistics, theoretical computer science). Application deadline is September 15, 2015.
