About​ ​your​ ​organisation Effective​ ​Altruism​ ​Australia​ ​is​ ​a​ ​Public​ ​Benevolent​ ​Institution​ ​that​ ​exists​ ​to​ ​reduce​ ​poverty,​ ​distress and​ ​suffering.​ ​We​ ​do​ ​this​ ​by​ ​identifying​ ​organisations​ ​that​ ​are​ ​working​ ​effectively​ ​to​ ​reduce poverty​ ​and​ ​improve​ ​human​ ​health,​ ​and​ ​then​ ​fundraising​ ​to​ ​grant​ ​money​ ​to​ ​these​ ​organisations​ ​to support​ ​their​ ​work.​ ​We​ ​are​ ​inspired​ ​by​ ​the​ ​philosophy​ ​and​ ​social​ ​movement,​ ​Effective​ ​Altruism, which​ ​encourages​ ​thinking​ ​critically​ ​about​ ​the​ ​best​ ​way​ ​to​ ​bring​ ​about​ ​positive​ ​change.​ ​Whilst​ ​the ideas​ ​of​ ​Effective​ ​Altruism​ ​can​ ​apply​ ​to​ ​many​ ​different​ ​cause​ ​areas,​ ​our​ ​focus​ ​is​ ​on​ ​using​ ​these ideas​ ​towards​ ​effectively​ ​alleviating​ ​human​ ​poverty​ ​and​ ​suffering​ ​through​ ​financially​ ​supporting organisations​ ​implementing​ ​evidence-based​ ​programs. Effective​ ​Altruism​ ​Australia​ ​is​ ​run​ ​by​ ​a​ ​volunteer​ ​team​ ​who​ ​communicate​ ​online.​ ​Applications​ ​are welcomed​ ​from​ ​people​ ​based​ ​anywhere​ ​in​ ​Australia,​ ​and​ ​from​ ​people​ ​of​ ​all​ ​ages,​ ​genders, ethnicities,​ ​sexual​ ​orientations​ ​and​ ​political/religious​ ​beliefs.
