Date: January 23, 2014 PHS PRESENTS, “THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST” Battle Ground, WA – Prairie High School Drama presents Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest, on opening night Thursday, January 30, at Prairie High School auditorium. “Earnest,” is considered Wilde’s best comedy and is known as a, “Trivial comedy for serious people.” This production features Prairie Drama actors Ashlee Waldbauer, Austin Foley, and Tristan Decker who were recently featured in the group’s production of Oliver, The Musical. Directed by Claire Verity, this production also features Emily Anzalone, Zach Oval, Jared Lingle, Casey Wardell, and Keiko Inouye. “The Importance of Being Earnest is a sparkling comedy in which the main characters create fictional persons in order to escape their social obligations,” said Verity. “This works beautifully for them until they both fall in love creating a hilarious plot the audience will love.” “Earnest,” has been produced numerous times for television and the 2002 film version stars Colin Firth, Rupert Everett, Reese Witherspoon, and Judi Dench.
