SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER (Volunteer Position) As a vibrant sustainable development organisation, we are a looking for a passionate & creative individual to help us engage and build our online communities. Central to this is the communication of our approach, values, campaigns and inspiring stories from our projects. This is an opportunity to manage our "voice" online and engage with individuals across the world who are passionate about social justice and sustainability. This is currently a voluntary position with an expected commitment (flexible) of up to 5 hours a week. This position is not restricted by country and hence all applicants are encouraged to apply. Desired Skills & Experience
Responsibilities To manage content and supporter engagement across our social media channels: Facebook , Google +, Twitter , LinkedIn and Instagram. This will involve use of social media platforms such as Buffer and Edgar. To work alongside the Marketing Coordinator and the Board to develop a succinct Social Media Strategy that will improve depth of engagement and grow each of our existing online communities over the next year (Jan 2016 Jan 2017). To source and select content from project staff in Malawi and Sri Lanka. We have a Social Media WhatsApp group for this purpose. To initiate and manage the creation of relevant memes and profile stories for our social media channels and website. To promote Empower's campaigns, events and recruitment drives across our social media channels. To provide input into improvements to our website and blog suggestions on a quarterly basis.
Required Skills and Attributes: Excellence in both written and oral English is a MUST. Ability to communicate clearly in the proper social media “voice” and “tone” for a sustainable development organisation. Knowledge of social media marketing tools such as Hootsuite, Klout and Facebook metrics. Proactivity and discipline is vital as the role would involve scheduling posts on a weekly or fortnightly basis to ensure consistency of presence.

Required Experience: Prior experience as a social media community manager preferred Experience with copywriting would be ideal. Diploma or Bachelors Degree, preferably in Marketing, Communications or Public Relations.
