Denton For DOWNLOAD Review 'Denton’s first novel charms readers with her idyllic settings and wonderful cast of characters, making Sweet Bay and the Hideaway places readers will dream about. The Hideaway is a deeply satisfying exploration of family, friendship, and the meaning of home.' (BookList) “This debut novel is the kind of book you want to curl up with on a rainy day or stick in your beach bag for your next vacation. It is poetic and compelling, emotional and full of life.” (RT Book Reviews, 4 1/2 stars and TOP PICK) “Inspiring in tone, with well-drawn, appealing characters, Denton’s delicious debut is a treat for the senses and the heart. Her exquisitely lyrical writing and character-driven story is a must-read, especially for those who loved Beth Moore’s The Undoing of St. Sylvanus.” (Library Journal -- Starred Review, DEBUT OF THE MONTH) “In this fine debut, Denton crafts a beautiful, heartbreaking story of true love that never dies. . . This book will please inspirational, contemporary, and historical fans alike.” (Publishers Weekly STARRED Review) About the Author Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Lauren K. Denton now lives with her husband and two daughters in Homewood, just outside Birmingham. In addition to her fiction, she writes a monthly newspaper column about life, faith, and how funny (and hard) it is to be a parent. On any given day, she’d rather be at the beach with her family and a stack of books. The Hideaway is her first novel. By lotsofhues It's not often that I can classify a book as "an experience," but this one truly fits the bill. I felt at home in the clear, painterly descriptions of this novel; I could see myself walking beneath those mossy oaks, meandering in the back garden, and inhaling the fresh air of the bay. Upon finishing the story, I felt as though I just returned from a

lovely vacation, thoroughly refreshed from my charming, immersive stay in this sweet Southern town. The primary locale of the book, the Hideaway, deserves mention as a character of its own right. The Hideaway is filled to the brim with secrets, and it bursts with a transformative energy, as it too is transformed. As a bridge between past and present, the Hideaway enriches the inner lives of a grandmother and granddaughter who both come to know it on their own terms. I enjoyed the parallel storylines in this book, and found these narratives to hit just the right balance of depth and lightness - illuminating the needs and desires of these two women, while revealing their quirks and yes, even their playful sides, in a beautiful ode to the human experience. This book may cause you to look a little deeper at yourself, as you examine what you really want in your life. This book may also inspire you to look a little deeper at others - including the elderly generation, whose rich and important tales deserve to be told. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great story. I love all things Southern By Molly Great story. I love all things Southern, especially the stories! This book paints a beautiful image of southern marshes and canals and just a different way of life. I liked that the author flipped back and forth between the female lead characters and different time periods. This novel will make you want to pick up the phone or drive to your grandparents house and talk to them. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Independence found By Janesmcdowell When a woman is betrayed by her husband she runs away and discovers a new way of life. Her life of privilege didn't prepare her to be independent and strong. She learned on her on own how to be connected to people and find fulfillment in life. See all 734 customer reviews...
