Fire Alarms

Emergency Response Numbers:

EVACUATE the building IMMEDIATELY. Fire alarms are distinguishable by a loud bell or horn and/or a flashing strobe light. Follow exit signs and proceed to assembly areas away from the buildings. Do not use the elevators. Keep clear of roadways and building access areas. Do not reenter any buildings until you are notified by safety personnel. Remember when you evacuate to take personal items, such as car keys, purse, wallet, and coat, since re-entry may not be allowed.

Seek shelter under desks or tables and remain in place until the shaking stops. Face away from all windows. Evacuate the building only when instructed or when you are in danger. As with a fire danger, take small personal effects with you. Be prepared for aftershocks.

Visitors must be escorted by LBNL workers at all times. Work with your host supervisor to obtain the appropriate credentials and GERT training, should you need to be on-site, unescorted on a regular basis.

About ESD ESD is situated among ten buildings on Berkeley Lab’s 200-acre site, with its Division Director’s office located on the third floor of Building 74. ESD scientists are developing 21st century approaches and scientific understanding relevant to both energy and the enivironment.
