The Kever (Tomb) Rachel Bracelet
On Rachel’s tomb, situated south of Jerusalem, “Derech Bais Lechem” (On the road towards Bethlehem), the words of the prophets are written: ....Throughout the generations, “Rachel cries for [the welfare of] her children.... “and G-d, hearing the entreaties of Rachel, replies, “Refrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your efforts shall be rewarded, so speaks G-d….” (Jeremiah, 31:14) Congratulations upon acquiring a genuine Kever Rachel Bracelet. Rest assured that your bracelet is intertwined with the red thread with which we encircled Kever Rachel (the tomb of Rachel) seven times. The Kever Rachel Bracelet is worn primarily as a protection against ayin horah (evil eye), a custom and an observed tradition as widely observed today as it has been for generations (see below). Unique and meaningful, this bracelet is certain to become your most prized piece of jewelry. The significance of wearing a Kever Ruchel Bracelet is twofold. For one, tradition teaches that wearing a red thread (“a roita bendel”) protects us against an evil eye (ayin horah), a negative power that certain individuals possess and might cast knowingly or inadvertently upon another person. In addition, thread wound around Kever Rachel seven times affords its own various special blessings and virtuous properties (“segulos”). Wearing the thread provides us with a tangible symbolic reminder of our connection with Rachel Imeinu (Our Matriach) and for our desire that she intercede on our behalf. When one prays for health, prosperity, finding one’s mate, children, success, contentment in life, and so forth, those prayers are assisted upwards through the merits of Rachel Imeinu. It is documented in Torah (Bible) commentaries that because of her extraordinarily unselfish acts of understanding and compassion for her sister Leah, Rachel’s supplications are very dear to G-d. It is her prayers in particular that will always be heard and requests granted. Additionally, this bracelet was bencht (blessed) by Rav Mordechai Steiner on the date of Rachel Imeinu’s yahrzeit (passing) – 11th of MarCheshven 5775 (November 4th 2014). Rav Steiner bestowed the priestly blessings and his wishes that G-d should always be with the wearer and bestow “Kol Tov” (everything that is good). Please treat the bracelet with the appropriate holiness. The Kever Ruchel bracelets are individually handcrafted with meticulous care solely by experienced family staff and are offered in 14-karat white and yellow gold filled chains. BRACELET CARE: Bracelet need not be removed before swimming or showering. Avoid contacts with chemicals, paints, glues etc. and immersion in soiled or greasy water, such as when gardening and dishwashing. TO CLEAN: Soak bracelet in any hot soapy solution for half an hour. Remove and scrub both sides of bracelet vigorously with a toothbrush dipped in baking soda or Soft Scrub; rinse well and allow to dry. NOTE: The bracelet sizes measure from end to end. Bracelets are made to the size ordered but “shrink” slightly during processing. They will eventually regain their initial size and will even stretch by 2 or 3 millimeters with time. For this reason, we discourage ordering too large a size. Expect your bracelet to be slightly stiff when new, due to our finishing process; it will ultimately soften with regular wear.
