AIMS 

To develop an understanding of the historical development of missions and evangelism through to the 21st century



To contextualise and apply missions for the postmodern world and a local community

LEARNING OUTCOMES Upon the successful completion of this module, the student should be able to demonstrate the ability to: 1. Articulate an understanding of the historical development of missions and evangelism through to the 21st century. 2. Demonstrate critically a contextualized understanding of missions to postmodern world. 3. Critically contextualise and apply missions for a local community. INDICATIVE CONTENT 

Reflect on a biblical Theology of Missions as it relates to the specific niche of evangelism



Observe, discuss and analyse the relevance of different modes of Public Evangelism



Critically asses how different methods in Evangelism relates to specific cultures (methods and context)



Reflect and analyse how a Christian faith can make a difference to and be a transforming agent in a postmodern community



Study and reflect on different models of small group ministries and their contributions to community



Assess models of Church Planting and their effectiveness in the establishment of faith communities in an increasingly secular society

LEARNING AND TEACHING STRATEGY Lectures will introduce the students to the concepts, principles, and practices of the topics studied for the module. Case studies may be used to provide examples and will be used to develop further understanding of what has been learned. Tutorials and seminars are used to support the discussion and critical evaluation of what has been learned, normally in a smaller group size than a lecture. Guided independent study allows students to further their independent learning skills with appropriate support provided by the module tutor(s) (e.g. preparation for lectures and seminars, follow-up work, background reading, revision, completion of assessment tasks). Explain the meaning of this concept, and discuss the relevance for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Europe. b. Critically assess the relationship between evangelism and social responsibility. These are transferrable skills and assist in nurturing critical and creative thinking. As such the module is focused on meeting the immediate needs of the students while also equipping them to think critically and solve problems in an unknown future.
