FUNDAMENTALS OF ENGINEERING (FE) – FAIL If you have received a failing score on a recent NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering examination, please review the information below. With the implementation of computer based testing (CBT), manual verification is no longer available. Please note that NCEES no longer mails re-exam information reminder notices to examinees. Active Students (Enrolled in or recent graduate of an ABET-Accredited curriculum - undergraduate only) Retake Exam as a Student OR Retake Exam as a Non-Student If you remain a student in senior status, your NCEES registration will be in effect for 12 months from initial registration. After 12 months, if you are still a student in senior status, you will also be required to reapply with a new "student application." If you are no longer a student, you must apply as a non-student including submittal of your school transcripts. Applications and instructions can be obtained from the Board’s website www.dora.colorado.gov/professions/engineers, from “Licensing Services” select “Find Applications & Forms”, then “Professional Engineer and Engineer Intern Applications and Forms” and select the appropriate application. There are no longer application deadlines for the FE exam for the computer based exam. A complete application must be submitted with all required documentation before an applicant can register online with NCEES. Non-Student If you have submitted a non-student application and have previously been approved, the Board will provide your name and address to NCEES Exam Administration Services, the Board’s testing service. You may register for your next exam through the NCEES website (www.ncees.org). Please check the website for the fee schedule and information about the registration process. Once you register to retake the exam, it is recommended that you check the NCEES website regarding exam information regularly. In the Board’s Bylaws and Rules, please reference Board Rule 4.3.2 regarding application retention prior to contacting the Board office at www.dora.colorado.gov/professions/engineers, from “Laws, Rules & Policies” select “Board Rules and Regulations”. Pursuant to Board Rule 4.3.2 from the Board’s Bylaws and Rules, you have two years from the date of the exam you failed to re-examine. If you do not retake an exam within this two-year period, your application will be purged from the files. If your application is purged from the files, you must submit a new, original application, with the required fees and supporting documents to the Board Office for Board consideration. Be sure to keep the Colorado Office of Licensing informed of any address changes, both mail and email, so you may be contacted on important matters pertaining to your enrollment. Visit the Board’s website at www.dora.colorado.gov/professions/engineers, from “Licensing Services” select “Update Your Contact Information” to submit a change online or by the designated form.
