Dear Families, The Maynard Spanish Immersion program will again offer an optional summer experience for students. The program would provide students with an opportunity to enhance and reinforce their language proficiency during the summer. The program would consist of 3 classes, one focusing on introducing language to entering kindergarten students as well as those gaining a first exposure to Spanish while the other classes would focus on extending and enriching the skills of students who will be entering either grade 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Campamento Los Ositos For entering Kindergarten students and for a first exposure to Spanish Incoming students will experience an introduction to Spanish as well as becoming familiar with classroom setting and routine. The focus will be on having an enjoyable introduction to language and learning through hands-on experiences. Activities will be themed-based using books, dramatic play, music, manipulatives, outside games, and arts and crafts. Children should bring a nut-free lunch and snack Campamento Los Exploradores #1 For entering First and Second Grade students Campamento Los Exploradores #2 For entering Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade students These classes will extend students knowledge of Spanish while focusing on enhancing social skills and academic enrichment in preparation for the next school year. Activities will be themed based, focusing on science inquiry, physics, outdoor games, stories, and creative art activities. Children will also explore the natural environment and create with recycled materials. Children should bring a nut-free lunch and snack. Two sessions of the program will be offered, during the weeks of July 24-28 and August 7-11. Students may attend either or both sessions. Students will come from 9-12:30, bringing a nut free lunch and snack. The fee will be $145 per student for each week to cover the cost of the program. A minimum enrollment of 10 students is needed for the program to be held. Maximum enrollment will be 20 students per class per session. Registrations will be accepted in the order they are received.
