This course does not require any pre-requisites such as prior knowledge of commodity markets or derivatives. However, learners should have the ability to understand Basic English and must be PC-literate. They should also have basic arithmetic skills. However, learners with a basic understanding of derivatives, statistics and demandsupply analysis will find it easy to undergo the course in an accelerated time frame.
What is the objective of this course? The objective of this course is to equip the learners with the basic understanding of commodity markets, derivatives, basic principles related to commodity derivatives trading and trading strategies. Course study manuals that will be couriered to the learner 3. User ID and password to access the e-learning material on the Learning Management System for a period of 60 days after registration 4. Final online exam fees for a single attempt at an ATTEST Center of choice subject to seat availability 5. Course Administration, Help Desk access over phone or e-mail How is the syllabus structured? This is a self-study course that is based on a blended design (online + print) and is delivered over two segments: • An introductory segment • An applied segment The introductory segment will introduce the learner to commodity markets and commodity derivatives, besides key concepts that form the base of commodity trading. The applied segment will focus on commodity price analysis and trading strategies on the exchange. Learners will need to clear a test that is based on the introductory segment, before they can start-off on the applied segment. The self-study material is a blend of: • E-Learning modules that are further divided into units, each of which focuses on a clear learning objective. • Study manuals that cover each of these units in detail, questions at the end of every unit, and caselets/examples What is the duration of this course? The overall course engagement for a typical learner is estimated at: • At least 15 hours of e-learning by logging on to the Learning Management System • At least 30 hours of self-study using the study manuals • It is estimated that a typical learner will be able to cover the entire course and go for the certification test in about 4 weeks from commencement • Those familiar with commodities or commodity trading or others who are able to devote more time may choose to adopt an accelerated path and finish earlier.
How are the learners assessed? Learners will undergo a two-stage assessment. Stage 1: Self-triggered test delivered online from the Learning Management System after completion of the introductory segment There is also a practice test available on-line which contains questions from both the introductory segment and applied segment which the learner may practise any number of times before taking the test from ATTEST. Stage 2: A Prometric test delivered online at select ATTEST Centers on select dates announced periodically. Minimum cut-off marks to clear the test will be 50% of maximum possible How many attempts is a learner allowed to clear the Stage I test? The test can be taken as many times as required by a learner. Learners will be allowed to access the applied segment only after successfully clearing the Stage 1 Test. Is there negative marking for wrong answers? There is no negative marking for wrong answers. What is the cut-off score to clear the Stage I test? The cut-off score to clear the test is 40% of the maximum possible. What computer skills are required to go through the e learning courses? The learner should possess basic computer skills and should know how to access and surf the Internet. What is the validity period of the user ID? The user ID is valid for 60 days from the date of enablement of the same by the Course Administrator. Can the validity be extended? In order to extend the validity, the learner would have to reregister at a cost of Rs.300. There is no limit to the number of times a learner can reregister. On every reregistration, the user id will be valid for the next 60 days from the date of re-registration. How is the course offered? On registration, the learner will be provided with: i.
