Field & Virtual Fence Manager with Human Wildlife Solutions
Field & Virtual Fence Manager Applications are requested for a one or two year fixed term contract with Human Wildlife Solutions. We are seeking to employ a highly motivated and passionate individual that can assist with various projects, management and logistics within the company. Duties and requirements (include but are not limited to): To manage a team of rangers in daily baboon monitoring activities and to ensure that baboons do not enter the urban environment To collect data of baboon troops and troop activities. These activities must include: location of sleeping sites, time of troop movement to and from sleeping sites, areas visited by troop, troop numbers, births and deaths, incidents of raids (which must include time of raids, place of raids, type of raids), injured baboons including severity/nature of injury Must be able to plan strategically and must show strong in-field problem solving capabilities. Possibly think of new techniques which could be added to current problem animal management strategies. Provide assistance with office administration tasks if needed Must be able to grasp new ideas, techniques and methods quickly and apply adaptive management when needed Basic understanding of baboons and human-wildlife conflict Liaise with all the relevant authorities and stakeholders within the area Provide assistance when catching baboons to fit them with GPS and/or VHF collars Must have a valid Driver’s licence and own vehicle would be an advantage Must be computer literate; Word, Excel and Power Point Must love the outdoors Must be physically fit and able to hike up mountains Applicants will also need to be able to deal with the public and attend meetings, be good at field work, and able to assist in data collection for research.
