The University of Allahabad The University of Allahabad, was founded in 1887. Its alumuni include eminent political figures, jurists, scientists, bureaucrats and writers. Some of them have held high public offices such as of the President, Prime Minister and Chief Justice of the country. Popularly known as “Oxford of the East”, it is recognized the world over for its quality of education, research, faculty and students. It offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Doctoral programmes and Professional Courses.
Department of Psychology The Department of Psychology, established in 1961 with Professor Durganand Sinha as the Head, has acquired a distinct identity for itself in the areas of inter-group relations, social change, organizational processes, cross-cultural & indigenous psychology, and health psychology. The Department offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral programs. The Department achieved the status of Centre for Advanced Study in 1984. It has played a role in the professional organizations both at the National and International levels. Social action programmes, including Project Outreach and Counseling have been vibrant programs of the Department. The Department publishes Psychology and Developing Societies, a journal by Sage publication.
Centre of Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences The University Grants Commission established the Centre of Behavioural and Cognitive Sciences (CBCS) in 2002. The Centre offers Doctoral and Master programs in Cognitive Science. CBCS has multiple labs like Cognitive Neuroscience Lab, Visual Cognition Lab, Psycholinguistics Lab, Virtual Reality Lab, Biofeedback Lab, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) lab, and Neuropsychology Lab. The Centre has collaborative research programmes with National and International Institutions to promote quality research and training in Cognitive Science. The faculty members, work in diverse areas like attention, emotion, consciousness, cognitive development, bilingualism, and decision-making.

Kumbh Mela, at Sangam
ALLAHABAD The city of Allahabad also called Prayag is located at the confluence of three rivers – Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati. It has been a cultural and religious centre with a rich historical past. Allahabad is a hub of educational and administrative centre and home to several premier institutions like Allahabad High Court, the Indian Institute of Information Technology, the Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, and Harishchandra Research Institute of Mathematics and Physics.
Reaching Allahabad Allahabad located on the National Highway, is well connected by train from Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai, and by flight from Delhi and Mumbai. It can also be reached from Varanasi 120 km. and Lucknow 200 km. Weather : Temperature in February ranges around 15°C to 25°C.
Allahabad Fort : Built by Akbar in A.D. 1583, has several shrines and monuments such as the Ashoka Pillar and Patalpuri Temple.

Sangam : Confluence of three holy rivers, famous for annual Magh Mela and the Kumbh Mela.
Anand Bhawan and Swaraj Bhawan : The ancestral home of Nehrus, houses memorabilia of the family.
Khusro Bagh : This huge garden, houses the mausoleums of Khusro, his sister, and his Rajput mother.
Allahabad Museum : Allahabad Museum preserves the paintings of Nicholas Roerich, terracotta figurines, Rajasthani miniatures, coins and stone sculptures.
