To introduce the topic addressed on the video, they are going to start by discussing some preliminary questions on the book:  Imagine you were arrested for a crime you didn’t commit. What would you do?  Imagine you are offered a choice; admit a lesser charge and go to prison for a shorter time (even though you are innocent) or fight to protect your freedom. What would you choose? 2. Do the reading “American Violet: A criminal justice story” that is on the same page of the book. Divide the text so that 5 or 6 people can read out loud and practice pronunciation. 3. After reading, they have some minutes to answer some questions related to the text itself.

Ask them the questions in exercise number 3 of the worksheet (see annex I). 6. Worksheets are finally given. They should try to make a guess or remember the answers of exercises 1 and 2. That way they will know what to look for when watching the video a second time. 7. They do watch the video a second time and then we check. Ask them the meaning of the expressions found in exercise 4. 8. The compositions of exercise number 5 can be sent as homework.
